OC? He does have a coaching talent

this is the stuff that always boogles my mind.  The good old boy system of football where you can just get random jobs.

LB coach, QB coach, RB coach, OL coach, ST coach, TE coach, etc.  I mean, you can't teach all those at a high level year to year.

He's literally doing it again with Satterfield who is completely incompetent as an OC. He just wants bros and yes men. What also pisses me off is he's going to tout these guys as having "NFL Experience" because they were assistant blah blah coach on his 2020/21 staff. It's crazy to watch him manipulate another fan base in real time and they're slurping it up

Everything about Rhule did.

Even after year 1 it looked maybe true, with some of the unexpected contributions, etc. Ugh.

Nah, Rhule showed his fatal flaws and warts in 2020. The difference was that he had the benefit of the doubt since it was theoretically possible he'd learn and develop. Instead, we got the abomination that was 2022 and then inexplicably 5 games of 2022 as well.

He did an interview with Scott Fowler.  Amazing that he thinks a local guys does no know better.  This is long and so full of BS that it is hard to read.  So far Scott just reported...did not comment. Waiting for the Observer to come down on him.  Hard to believe what comes out of his mouth.

I mean, I was wishing him well in his new position at Nebraska and everything but that answer was just......oof...... at least act like you have some kind of awareness. For instance if it's me, my answer probably would have been that instead of having a staff of coaches/assistants with so little NFL experience day one of me coming in, I'd have instead tried to bring in some more experienced people to help ease the transition over between the two coaching levels

Where are the Rhule defenders at???

Yeah, he is clearly spouting BS on that one. I mean, while he hasn't looked too bad lately, drafting Chubba is a CLEAR example that Matt was heavily involved in making the picks. I mean, it was "His Wife's" pick after all. We'll also add in that long snapper they drafted as well so that he could make a spectacle about it on video.

Rhule: “There was a myth that I had that I had personnel control. “You guys asked me about it and I always tried to be respectful of the team and protect the team. But you know, I never made a draft pick.

“You know it’s hard. ... There was a lot of turnover during my time there: two team presidents, two GMs, other (high-level) positions ... just a lot of turnover. So my vision had to be resold each time to somebody new. It just was never maybe a great fit.

If you told me, ‘Hey we’ve got two years (to win),’” Rhule said, “then we’re going to do things in two years. If you tell me, ‘Hey, I want this to be built for the long haul over four or five years, then we’re going to build slowly through the draft and we’re going to make good financial decisions.’ And you know, if it’s, ‘Hey, you have to win this year,’ you probably don’t let Stephon Gilmore and Haason Reddick go.’ ... If you’re going to try to win in two years, you’d probably have a big blockbuster trade, you’d probably trade up in the draft, you probably would have paid some high-priced free agent.”

Hmmmm...thought he did not make the personnel decisions.  Well Matt....either you did or you didn't.

“I never lost the locker room,” said Rhule, who went 11-27 as Carolina’s coach in two-plus seasons. “But I lost the fans.”

Rhule also said that he believed that the fact that many fans loudly turned on him during home games, shouting “Fire Matt Rhule!” during several of his final home games, helped seal his fate.

Rhule was billed as this great talent developer etc etc

And Marty Hurney was one of the best evaluators of college talent in the league 😕

...

One day, I'd love to ask Tepper whether he actually had something in mind to base that statement on or if it was just pure bullsh-t.
