Is A.R a smaller C.Newton in the rough?

If AR had stayed one more year at Florida, I think the comparisons in college would be more aligned. Cam was unstoppable at Auburn and won a chip that year. Richardson needed more reps and impose his will consistently all year to be compared.

I think AR destroys the combine and pro-day and will go top-7 before Levis. If we want any QB not named Levis, we need to get to 6.

I think the Colin Kaepernick comp is a good one. AR has a prettier release and looks more fluid with his delivery, but has some messy footwork and he will need to improve reading defenses more.

Stroud could start later in '23. Richardson can not.

The only way a running QB should be compared to Cam is if they can match his size. Anything less can't be the same kind of runner. The other running QBs in the league are already not lasting a whole season. He's the only one who could withstand the running for a long period of time.

Fwiw, I compare hurts to him since he's the only other qb I've seen successfully run power from the qb position.

Cam was the size of a linebacker with the speed of a WR and the running tendency of a power back...and he was effective at doing everything. There will never be another QB like Cam. There will be similar people. Maybe they have a bit of his magic. But you'll never see that kind of player again, as far as being all those things.

Goddamn you, Kelvin Benjamin and TJ Watt.

    • Let's pause a sec and rewind. The hype for Bryce Young before we drafted him was beyond anything I've seen in a long time. If you're trying to tell me now after all the hoopla about his ability to make those around him better and the comparisons to hall of fame players across different sports leagues that him taking the next step this year fully hinges on Adam Thielen then we're probably already doomed. Thielen is not going to keep any defenses up at night. He has good hands and very low YAC. We have 4 young WR's ahead of him with potential that need crucial development and we certainly need to find out what we have in them sooner rather than later because regardless of what transpires this season the QB room should undoubtedly be getting a hard reset. Those reps need to go to the young WR's regardless. Bryce needs to step up and take ownership of the relationship between himself and his young receivers. That's why we drafted him.
