Carr Watch

Frank you had Wentz please don't fall for the trap again.

My fear is Frank/Carr will fall in love because of their religious beliefs. And we will leave the meeting with a handshake agreement.

If it happens im not going to be thrilled, but at the end of the day he will be a Panther so im going to root for him and give him a fair chance to be the franchise QB.

This is along my line of thinking as well.

The Raiders have been a dumpster fire organization for his entire career there. Mayock was a horrendous GM and retread Gruden was a disaster, along with Del Rio prior. They have severely lacked talent and have not been able to build through the draft.

If our current staff signs off on him, it's going to be difficult for me to object. Especially given the sheer amount of championship pedigree and coaching knowledge we have assembled...

You willing to bet a 3 year contract on that line if thinking?

Carr is a better vet QB.

That is why so many are against it.

Yeah he's better than what we had, but he's still in that tier of QB's that are good but not good enough.

Then you look at our roster and a mid tier QB and you realize the team wouldn't make it very far in the playoffs.

Carr had more weapons in Vegas than he will have here. We would have to add a lot more around him to even think about making a run. Im not a hater im just being real.

If I'm the Panthers and I'm going to be completely honest with Carr and tell him that if the right guy is there at #9 we're still drafting him. Sure, the plan is to commit to him and we don't plan on the right guy being there at #9 but wild things happen and we can't tell you that there's zero chance we're not drafting a QB at #9. So know this before putting ink to paper so there's no hard feelings in a couple months.

That doesn't make sense though. Carr is going to want a lot of money.

Why pay a guy a 3 year contract probably worth 100 mil to be a bridge for the next 3 years?

Jimmy G would be cheaper and would probably take a 1 year prove it deal because of his injury history. I rather go that route if the plan is to still draft  a QB. Even Brissett/Minshew could be a bridge QB.

I'd agree.

And honestly, the staff we've got right now don't really seem like the type to blow smoke up anybody's ass, so I expect That's what'll happen.

I've said it multiple times. I'd prefer draft, but I won't holler if it's Carr. I think much of this fanbase has PTSD from watching us aquire 3rd tier vet QBs and them predictably failing. We've tried for better vet QBs but they didn't want to play for Rhule. Carr is a better vet QB.

At least he used to be.  As long as the guaranteed money is low I would not worry about it.  The team wouldn't make that decision until after the draft anyway.

If we land him, I could see a scenario where we still pick up a QB in April but more like Haener in R3-4.

I saw someone joking about that being two Fresno Staters but I can see that as a legit possibility IF Carr happens.  Someone like Jake would be perfect to have behind DC.  I'm not discarding Corral though-- he'll be here to compete for that backup spot.

There is no such thing as a 100 million dollar bridge quarterback. He's either your guy the next 3-4 years minimum or you go in another direction.

Basically what I been saying the entire time.

If Carr is the QB you have to build around him. He's not a cheap bridge QB.

QB is off the board if we sign Carr. You have to put weapons around him. He's not a QB who can carry a weak offense like Rodgers/Lamar.

#9 pick has to be a WR

Two 2nd round picks need to be a TE/RB
