Adam Schefter: Bryce Young is believed to be favorite for #1 for the Panthers right now

People keep bringing up Young’s SEC competition. Aside from UGA (who Stroud played) which team had an elite defense that he played? LSU’s defense wasn’t what it normally was, Ole Miss was an offensive team, Auburn was a shell of itself? I know several BIG10 schools were ranked on the top 10 defenses when Stroud played them. Stroud WRs are a much better arguing point than his competition.

That's an odd quote from schefter since sf didn't ultimately take Mac Jones.  I'm not sure I completely understand his point.

He's saying it's a smoke screen. He seems to think that Mac Jones would be the pick that the staff wants but something changes and they end up taking Richardson, or Stroud (I hope).

Big difference between 5'10 and 205 when you've been lifting hard for four months to get to that weight and 6'1 210 playing weight. Caleb Williams also runs a 4.5 and has elite arm strength. Young's arm won't blow you away, Caleb Williams has the arm of a 6'5 QB in a 6'1 body.

I honestly haven't followed him that much, but if he is taking a bunch of hits (I know he got injured last year), he will need to adjust his playing style as well.  People like to reference Mahomes, well yeah that backyard football style translating to the NFL is as likely as AR becoming the next Josh Allen.  Also Mahomes has mastered extending plays without taking as many hits.  He loves to tip top the sidelines and step out of bounds before contact.  That's the main advice Rodgers gave Burrow during his sophomore year.  "learn to slide, and don't take so many hits."

The good news is Young is probably the smartest QB in the draft and will put in the hours to adjust his style (at least I hope so).  They all will have adjustments to make as rookies.

It’s hard to describe intangibles sometimes. I view Young as savvy to a degree that will be above average his first year. He seems to also have that same sense as Mahomes to avoid the direct blows. He’s far more elusive than Stroud. I predict Stroud will take more direct hits that could lead to injury than Young.

They're trying to use Bryce Young. Stop the foolishness and move on with the #1, stop the f'n games which benefit NOBODY.

There is only one player THIS draft that qualifies for a jump from #9 to #1.

It's Stroud. Stop the smokescreens, leaks, stalling, staring down, they're not going to blink.

They're waiting for you to proclaim what everyone knows already ITS STROUD, stop playing games and celebrate, get to know him and let us freaking rest on teh huddle you cheeky card hiding, fooler of nobody.

There's nothing wrong with being honest and deliberate instead of cloak and dagger, fooling only ones self and wasting our f'n time and doing gymnastics on our nerves.

I could see Stroud taking hits due too his lack of mobility vs Young.  I think Stroud (at least in college) tends to get the ball out quick.  He is more prone to throw it away vs running around extending it trying to make a play.  Young has been doing more or as much with less talent at WR than Stroud, that alone may help him have more success early that Stroud will.  They are both two great options so either way I'm good.

Agreed. Either way I’m good as well.

    • OK, we are letting our top RB go.  We have Chuba, Etienne, and Brooks.  Imagine a player who could LEGITIMATELY play the slot and back up at RB?  I am sure he'd be a special team player as well.  I noticed him at the combine, and thought, "Here is a late rounder who could stand out as a slot and provide depth at RB. Without further ado....(I know one Huddler who might be able to tell us more about this guy): Navy running back/wide receiver Eli Heidenreich headlined the 2026 NFL Combine for the Midshipmen, running an official 4.44-second 40-yard dash and recording 16 reps on the bench press. Recognized as a versatile, "Swiss army knife" offensive weapon, Heidenreich solidified his draft stock as a potential day three target.    Eli Heidenreich (RB/WR - Navy) 2026 Combine Performance: 6'0" 200 lbs.   40-Yard Dash: 4.44 seconds. 10-Yard Split: 1.55 seconds. Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches. Broad Jump: 10' 0". Bench Press: 16 Reps. Highlights: Showcased as a premier receiving threat from the backfield, having left Navy as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (1,994). High character.  Smart.  Maybe, just maybe....
    • These refs are horrible.  They definitely got money on this game lol.
    • I don’t think the concept is bad thinking. That money this year is a ball buster, for getting nothing out of it.    gives him a little future location security and maybe hope that if he can get back we’ll pay him, with a renegotiation. Could give us some relief this year. That is kind of creative.
