Eddy saved us from ourselves tbh We win that game, and we most likely win the division. We most likely keep Wilks, draft even later, not be able trade up to #1, and we go into the next 5 years of mediocrity. Eddy is a real one!

People who are butthurt about that game must hate John Kasey. Because he lost way more important games for us than that one.

One game doesn't define a career.

Piniero's percentage was 19 points higher than Butker. What's the fascination with Butker anyway?

He was a younger and cheaper option after a year or two of bad/injured Gano. Also didn't seem like Rivera trusted him to try longer FGs (until the giants game) even though Gano has a cannon leg. Financially it seemed to make more sense to keep Butker and that Gano was on the downswing.

Then we eventually cut Gano and ate money and had Joey Slye, a downgrade from both, While Butker has gone on to be an above average Kicker with ice in his veins and Gano had a career resurgence in NY. It was just bad moves across the board. Vintage Hurney really.

Also, Butker was injured last year so his numbers were down, expect a bounce back year.

I get the feeling that Eddy is mentally tougher than a lot of posters give him credit for. Him getting rattled and missing that kick sealed our defeat and pretty much doomed our chances of taking the division, and everyone on the team and in the stands knew it. Coming back and making every kick for the remainder of the season, with the coach's (who took a chance on him and refused to cut him) job on the line, takes a lot of mental fortitude. I hope he carries it into next season.

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
