The Mark Williams Effect

Everyone's checked out this season so I know it's going under the radar, but Mark Williams has quietly elevated Charlotte from a bottom tier to top defensive team.

Took Clifford all year but it seems he finally got through to the guys. Even if we don't get the #1 we should be competitive next season.

Thankfully there is next season to look forward to.

Really trying to give Clifford the credit for this? I mean, they only had to trade Plumlee to force Cliff to play Williams.

I think OP is moreso just highlighting how good Mark Williams is. But you do have a point. Apparently it's worthy of a poo to mention Clifford's penchant for playing veterans over young guys like it's never happened before. Maybe some folks are too used to this and just accept it now. I say no thanks.

    • I was looking at his college highlights and he was a sloppy route runner there too.  Our scouting department just sucks
    • You shouldn't judge him by a move that all of his bosses wanted to happen. It wasn't his call and all we know is what has been said publicly. He affirmed his bosses' choice. I really don't believe if Morgan had autonomy he would have come to that place on Young. The guy played in the league against legit QBs and probably took one look at Young and the opinions he was hearing and thought... "wow, really? This is what I am dealing with here?".  Keep your gig or make a stand. My inability to do stuff like that, is why I never would have survived in the corporate suit world. But people do that all the time.
    • How would better coaches prevent players from getting concussed?  Clowney has been injury prone his entire career.  Wonnum and Brooks were hurt before they got on the team.  Thielen hurt his hamstring - every team deals with a player having a hamstring injury.
