Whatever happened to that report (not sure if substantiated) that Fitterer wasn't going to ask Reich who he wants at QB until 1-2 weeks before the draft or w/e.  Either that was BS, or all these "Panthers all love _____ and are definitely taking him" reports are BS.

There's a decent chance it's all BS. 😂

A guy at that size dominating the sport.

He is Patrick Mahomes in a smaller frame. Better jump on the bandwagon now. You're not getting on after we takeoff!

Even if he does dominate the sport to where he is a consistent top 5 qb every week, how does he change the game exactly? If he dominates, will the NFL all of a sudden value a smaller height over a bigger one? Will it all of a sudden place playmaking on a higher pedestal than tangibles like arm strength and accuracy or intangibles like leadership? No. There's a reason, outside of Michael Vick, and Patrick Mahomes, has the QB position evolved, and honestly, this feels like the QB position's final form. The running, magic creating playmaker who can get it to your receivers. If you want to say Bryce Young is another example of this new type of QB, you got me, but to otherwise say Bryce Young is going to usher a new type of QB. No. We're already at the final form.

I'm not arguing with you anymore. You and I have different definitions of changing the game, and that's fine with me.

Fwiw I agree with your interpretation of change the game.

Young looks dynamic and fun but I don't see how he fundamentally changes the game.  Small QBs don't somehow play football differently or score points differently.

There is so much media smoke around Bryce that it seems like the Panthers are almost desperately leaking we like him so Houston trades up to 1 and we take Stroud at 2

I don't like this take. Those that spout it overlook the idea that Houston's supposed love of Young could all be smoke too. If it's lying season for one team, it's lying season for all of them. And if Stroud and Young are a 1a and 1b scenario with very little difference other than size like some claim, why wouldn't Houston be happy to just sit at 2 and take whichever is still available and keep their picks?

I believe the Panthers have known who they want since before making the trade. It doesn't make sense to trade up for 1 without knowing who you want.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
