Shotgun usage over the past 22 years. I wonder what happened after 2011?

And still a third of the snaps are under center. Still need your QB to be able to do that… not saying Bryce can’t, he didn’t at Bama but that’s just the offense they run. On the staff to evaluate without the film proving he can, and I trust them to do just that

67% is a far cry from the 90%+ that the cards have been in shotgun since drafting Murray. We will be the same if we draft Young, it is necessary for him to be able to see the field. He cant take 7 step drops every play in the NFL, tackles wont hold up against speed rushers and he will get killed by a huge guy coming off the edge.

The primary reason for shotgun is to give more time to beat the pass rush. As highschool and college offenses moved more and more towards spread offenses with more receivers and fewer blockers shotgun became dominant. This trickled up to the NFL. QBs are unlikely to have much experience under center

The San Francisco 49ers set a new record by going shotgun (or pistol) on 99 percent of plays in 2016. This was Maximum Chip Kelly like the NFL had never seen before.

(2-14) record

    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
    • I always thought of him as an uptight military family dude, didn't know he needs to wash that mouth out with soap lol.
