Reich, the Panthers new coach, and general manager Scott Fitterer will collaborate to make the call.

"At the end of the day, the decision comes down to Scott and myself," Reich said.

What if they don’t agree?

You’d think that Panthers owner David Tepper would be the tiebreaker. Yet even without a so-called tie, it’s difficult to imagine the team going all-in on a rookie quarterback without Tepper’s blessing.

"Mr. Tepper is heavily involved in the process," Reich said. "He’s been on record saying, 'This is Scott and Frank making this decision.' He’s intimately involved. This quarterback that we pick will be the face of our franchise. And so, obviously he has to be comfortable with that."

So I am not really sure where Will K is getting his info from.

On personnel matters I agree but I am pretty sure in an article/interview leading up to all of this fitt and/or Reich said it was going to be a mutual decision in regards to the pick.  I will try and find the exact quote but given the sheer volume of articles the past month it may take me some time

Save the effort. I agree and that's what I've seen as well.

Edit: Beat me to it 😆

Well if the report is true that its Fitt and reich making the decision jointly and if Fitt loves Young and reich loves AR/Stroud what do you think happens?

I think Fiterrer goes with his guy in this case.

Where would it be acceptable to pick a player “who is going to get killed”?

with that logic, he shouldn’t even be drafted at all. Lmao

You are on to something.  He’s going to be a bust so teams may want to steer clear.

So how long did Wilson last and how long did Cam last?

How many SBs for Wilson and how many for Cam?

How many SB rings for Wilson and how many for Cam?

Wilson is still going.  Cam's injuries have decimated his career.

The anecdotes do not support the size bias.

The analysis does not support the size bias.

He's a smidge shorter than Wilson, does that 1/4 inch mean that he's a dead man walking?  I seriously doubt that.

Did being taller help Corral?  He didn't play a single regular season snap last year. Does our QB have to be taller than Corral to keep healthy?  Doubt it.

At some point its just bias.

I'm with Smitty.  Take the "taller processor", not the taller QB.

wilson in the 3rd cam 1st overall

1 SB for wilson and 0 cam

You are wrong for comparing wilson to young, different beast.

Wilson also had the best rushing team average for like 4 years add that it over lapped with with having the top scoring Defense for like 5 years. Thats about all the help a decent QB needs.\

Heres is wilson web compare it to youngs-

https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/bryce-young

https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/russell-wilson

Bigger hands, longer arms and look at those speed numbers, wilson was allllllllllllllllllllllll that and hes truly 205+. He was also the leagues best at broken plays and never taking a big hit.....it was like he was covered in grease.

So to end this, I do not like the wilson comparison. Young is tiny and small, alll of him. We dont even know his 3cone or 40 cause he couldnt run while water logged......Hes tiny, allll of him. He maybe slow or mid too....

I swear to all things holy, if a new "test" got hot cause the best team in the NFL put the last pick at QB and won some....fuging tepper, I swear, you better not fuccck this up...listen to the real football guys...

So which small QB are you pointing to who's career ended early because he was smaller?

1/2 inch in arm length and 1/2 inch in hand size difference is really not a huge difference. Russell Wilson was also 2 years older and had two more years of college starting experience. Two years in an NFL weight room is more than enough to add 5-10 pounds of muscle. Nitpicking season is here in full force.

wilson is a wizard.

If you tell me young will be a eel wizard and panthers will have the top rushing attack and best scoring D.......young could work.

Cam being out is mainly due to Cam and not the bum shoulder. Cam also could have found a true treacher about learn how to throw with correct mechanics..... wilson also has never ran power drives like cam, he had better coaches...another not Cam fault and lucky for wilson. Cam could also still be in the NFL as a Backup but personality is too high.

You can compare the two, they are totally different. Ones is the luckierst eel wizard and the other is TINY!

You going to overlook those other numbers and do we pretend about youngs?

Plus the body, wilson was much thicker....shoulders chest, legs, etc. When young gets drafted he will be the smallest QB in the league. PJwalker is his big bro.

Wilson was also 2011 when this stuff wasnt at the current roid up level it is now and young was at either the best strength program or next too. He still looks like he stepped off a HS field after 3 years.

You're saying smaller QBs get hurt.  I'm asking you to name one that got hurt because he was small.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
