Last regular season game. Simple as this. Win tonight…metro is ours. NJ loses, metro is ours.

Just win

Don't depend on my Devils to lose.

Canes should just focus on winning their game tonight against a Panthers team that is now going to go balls-to-the-wall in trying to avoid facing that absolute WAGON called the Boston Bruins in the first round.

So hopefully they don't make the mistake of thinking that just 'cause the Panthers clinched yesterday, that they have nothing to play for.

This is going to be a pretty tough game.

Boston: 1-0-2 (4 pts in 3 games) (9 GF - 8 GA)

NY Islanders: 3-1 (6 pts in 4 games) (12 GF - 9 GA)

Florida: 1-1 (2 pts in 2 games) (4 GF - 3 GA)

NJ: 2-2 (4 pts in 4 games) (12 GF - 13 GA)

NY Rags: 1-3 (2 pts in 4 games) (9 GF - 15 GA)

Tampa Bay: 2-1 (4 pts in 3 games) (10 GF - 7 GA)

The Rags are the only team to take the Canes and beat them consistently. The goal differential is lopsided. Every other team on this list is just another game.

Oh, and if Andersen is in net tonight, this will tell you everything you need to know about the organization's approach to playoff hockey.

Raanta is clearly the better of the 2 right now and with 5 days off after the game, he is the guy who "gives the team a better chance to win," to use an old Ron Rivera line.

How do we believe anything but this game not being important if RBA goes with Andersen tonight?

while I understand that, it's also a chance for Rod to give Fred a chance to perform in a high pressure situation that realistically isn't the end of the run if it goes wrong. This is the first time we've had Fred healthy at this point and while I agree Raanta has been playing the best of our 3, he also completely loses it on the road so I want both guys fresh and with game action under their belt.  Will be interesting to see.

Rants for some reason can't perform nearly as well on the road. So I think it will be Anderson.

Most of those stats included Svech.

The Canes want to maintain 1st in the Metro and face the Islanders first round. Panthers don’t want to face Boston.

This game is equivalent to a playoff game and both teams will bring their best.

Like I said for the NHL the entire East comes down to this game.

Like most of you I thought surely Rod has to put Raanta in net. But I looked at both Raanta’s and Freddie’s road records for this season on statmuse and to me it’s a mixed bag. Raanta had a lot of highs and lows GA. Freddie had a lot of 3 GA. Both had a lot of 2s. Then I looked at the two games against the Panthers, 0-3 away and 4-0 home Raanta in net for both.

So absolutely I ain’t gonna pick lol.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
