Young makes sense

The Panthers value players on rookie contracts. That how you win in today's NFL. Young will step in and play right away. You get 4 to 5 years of a starting QB on a rookie deal and you have enough resources to put talent around him and also build depth. Successful teams have depth, and the Panthers have not had it the past several seasons.

Young's intellect and processing suggest that he will learn the offense and be able to apply those skills to the NFL right away. He's done it at every level so far.

Additionally, the Panthers will continue to have QBs on the roster (Corral, Eason, draft) to develop behind Young and provide insurance.

$50 million is a lot of cap to dedicate to one player. Its ok with me if we get 4 years of top level play out of Young so that we have options when its time for him to get paid the big bucks. The Panthers will have someone ready to step in and start on a cheaper deal if they can't keep him on a reasonable salary.

You statements were all concise and right on target. After watching tapes on Alabama QB Bryce Young, I got the impression Young had that quality all the great QB"s have, called the "IT" factor.

Just when you think he has no chance to escape a rushing defensive lineman, or no way he can complete a really hard pass, he proves you wrong.

I can hardly wait to see how he does in the NFL this year regardless of which team, and I hope it's the Panthers, drafts him.

Young is shorter and lighter than Tua. Please explain to me what will prevent this from happening to him?

Tua was hurt in college and might be soft headed.. Young is better at avoiding hits and smarter with his body.. The Tua thing might be just a Tua thing..

Agree hes not the right guy for the Panthers, but I like his potential. Hope he goes where he can develop.

Florida QB, Anthony Richardson would be an ideal choice for a team that has a decent but not great QB and feels it has time to develop and coach Richardson up to become the eventual starter.

While reading posts on Saints forum and a poster seems worried and hopes we don't pick Bryce Young. Young is already spreading fear and hasn't played a single NFL game yet

Couldn't disagree more as far as talent goes.

CJ had arguably the greatest group of receivers in NCAA history to throw to. (Marvin Harrison Jr, Garrett Wilson, Olave, JSN, etc). He also had an entire offensive line that's going to play on Sundays. (Including both tackles top 2round picks).

CJ also struggled MIGHTILY the few times he was under pressure. He will not have the same level of talent disparity around him he did at Ohio.

Young while small, is a fantastic QB. Im really, really hoping the Panthers don't select him. "

    • It was in the updated roster thread. All signings and waver pickups are in there.
    • Great move Panthers.  Hope he is proven to take the #2 spot.  "Keep Pounding"🤩
    • this is where the Bryce defense goes off the rails for me.  We all know Bryce isn't a deep ball chunk play QB.  He doesn't have those physical tools and he doesn't play the game w/ that mindset.  It simply is not what he is.  Then you got folks going essentially going, well actually Shaq was a very efficient 3 pt shooter this season.  He shot 50% from behind the arc and Steph Curry was only at 48%.  So yeah, Shaq is a very effective 3 pt shooter.  Don't say he isn't a 3 point shooter.  Meanwhile, Shaq went 1 of 2 on the season and Steph shot 9343924 3s.  Russell Wilson is a deep ball chunk QB.  Baker is. Geno was his comeback season (best in the league that year I think is the correct call).  That's the Canales pass tree. EVERY QB throws deep at some point.  Arguing you can find a good grade when they went deep one week is just that.   No one can argue Bryce plays the game like a young Wilson throwing f you hail marys downfield.   Jake Delhomme fits Canales more than any Carolina Panther QB.  Teddy Bridgewater can grade out efficiently on his deep passes.  That doesn't make him a deep ball chunk QB.  2 totally different convos.    It would be better for everyone IMO if our org accepted what the unicorn was and built a team around that given they invested so much in him.....which is the criticism I started day 1 when they put him in Frank Reich's offense.  He didn't fit that.  He doesn't fit the Canales tree either.    NFL is about fit more than anything and it's what Carolina gets most wrong.  We essentially run offenses we don't have the QB talent for and you can say the same w/ the 3-4 D.  That's the Bryce era.
