From Mills to Young

I feel like I said this a few weeks ago and got criticized.

It doesn't make sense how so much of a fanbase of a team that has had guys like Steve Smith and Sam Mills, two iconic players overlooked because of their size, can be so judgmental of a player just because he doesn't fit the prototype.

Those two players show that if you can play, you can play.  If Nick Saban didn't count Young out because of his size, why the hell should we?

And that is what Keep Pounding is all about.  It ain't about the size.  It is how you can play and how determined you are to keep getting better.  Everything we've heard about Young is about how much he prepares and how hard he works.  That is the kind of guy that I want on my team.

Young will be a Panther great.

I'm hoping, but also still concerned.

(and I think that's reasonable)

Either way, the history of the team has certainly seen good decisions I didn't agree with (disliked both Newton and Kuechly) and bad ones that I did (liked the choice of Kelvin Benjamin...oy 😖) but regardless of what happens, I always hope for the best once it's in the books.

That won't change this year.

Nothing wrong with being concerned.  That is reasonable and everyone is entitled to their opinion.  But to me it doesn't make sense that some people (not you) write him off because of his size when as Panther fans two of our most iconic players were undersized.

Despite his size Young has often been the best player on any field he's been on.  That doesn't guarantee NFL success, but what it tells me is this man must be doing something right off the field to be putting himself in a position to be the best despite his non-traditional side.  Everything I hear about his mental and preparation gives me so much hope.

Either way. I agree with you - Young has the potential to prove size doesn't matter like greats such as Mills before us.  And I'm rooting so hard for him to succeed.  Just seems like a likable guy who just wants to play football at the highest level.

I'll repeat what I've said before...

Bryce Young has all of the qualities that I absolutely love in a quarterback. He's smart, he's accurate and he processes quickly.

Yeah, he's smaller than average, but he's also smarter than average, and reportedly "obsessed" with football.

As someone who's never been a big believer in valuing physical traits over intangibles, I'll take it.

    • No the PSL contract, gives you the right to 1. buy the seat(s) season tickets and preseason        Note. playoff tickets are not included as those prices are set by the league, not the team   You have the but them 2 for a set  amount 3 for a length of time (4, 6, 8 years) 4. At a guaranteed set price and guaranteed escalator for the term. The longer  term, the lower the escalator example 4 years at $3500 per year with no higher than 4% price increase  or  8 years at $3500 per year at 2% escalator  for many years, they were worth it if you are a fan of the game and big time players i saw everyone from Steve Young to Brady To Rodgers, to Patrick Mahomes live…just to see true greatness, regardless of position is a great experience…you see the whole Field…the game within the game and the sidelines tell a lot of tales too….  binoculars too help…even though i was close, watching the choreography of a really great offensive line, impressive  you feel and see the game so much differently than TV  …and, to watch Cam, Luke, Thomas…very much worth  it until Tepper, i had no regrets.other than not unloading them when he bought the team
    • It could work, but you have to work exponentially harder than with a prototypical type with a deep ball. That was my thing, why pay extra to make it harder on yourself?
    • It is just a hype video. I feel the same way. The video was fun but it is just team propaganda.
