well...maybe.

he just got rosenhaus to be his agent.

We are pleased to welcome Carolina Panthers cornerback Richard Marshall to the RSR family!

as much as a prick as he has a reputation for being, he has never been a problem for the panthers and we have dealt with him a lot.

still, he's looking to get paid and his contract is up this year. how much money are they willing to throw marshall? what is he worth? most likely he is going to be looking at gamble's deal and the fact that he is a starter. he's going to be expecting some serious money.

heres the list of FAs we have coming available...

A.J. Feeley

Josh McCown

Matt Moore (RFA)

Muhsin Muhammad

Kenneth Moore (ERFA)

Jeff King

Keydrick Vincent

Julius Peppers

Tyler Brayton

Nick Hayden (ERFA)

Tank Tyler (RFA)

Thomas Davis

James Anderson

Richard Marshall

C.J. Wilson (RFA)

Quinton Teal (RFA)

how many of these guys are worth throwing a lot of money to? next year will be uncapped most likely and that will effect the FA status of a few of these guys but for the long haul, who is really worth it? is marshall?

Thomas Davis is the only person on that list I'd throw allot of money at to keep.

RFA tender for a 1st or 2nd rounder. We'll keep him.

If we don't have a capped year, Marshall isn't gonna be an UFA. Not enough years.

I like Marshall for what he is, an above average bump and run cover corner. That's something this team shies away from playing, though. Same goes for Gamble and Munnerlyn, all are much better as bump and run CBs than zone guys.

I'd love to keep him, Davis, Brayton, and Tyler.

Gamble bump and run?

The guys shys away from contact way too much. I see him as for of a skill player than someone who would prefer to play physical.

Marshal and Captain are def bump and run guys who excell in the physical part of the game.

Well, let's face it. You have zone and man/bump and run. Gamble has all the physical tools to do it, and he's gotten better than his Deion Sandersesque tackling in the previous years, but I'll admit he's still gunshy at times. But to me that dwarfs his, for lack of better words, "mental ability" to really excel in a zone scheme. It's sorta pick your poison.

Gannt's perspective:

— CB Richard Marshall has ditched his old agent in favor of Drew Rosenhaus.

That's probably a good thing for the Panthers.

Marshall's old rep, Steve Feldman, once said he wanted to make Richard the highest-paid DB in the league. Rosenhaus isn't going to do any discount deals, but that claim was always a little out-there.

It's important to note that Marshall will be a restricted free agent this coming offseason (barring a new CBA), so they'll be able to hang onto him for at least one more year.

The Panthers have never had any problems doing deals with Drew, as Dan Morgan, Damione Lewis, Dan Connor and others can attest.

And it's a good thing they've got a good relationship, as Rosenhaus also represents LB Jon Beason, and it won't be long before that contract will need to be upgraded.

I haven't been disappointed with Marshall's play in his first year starting at the position. I think I, like many fans, saw so many flashes of brilliance from Marshall through his two years playing the nickel that we may have set the bar a little high. He's good, but he's not worth throwing a contract of Gamble's size out (and I like Gamble, but he's probably not worth that much money either).

I'd like to see him stick around to see what he can do with a little more time as a starter, but I do think we need to find a ballhawk either at the cornerback or free safety position.

Matt Moore (RFA) - Sign to short term and see what he can do in an entire season

Muhsin Muhammad - hope to retire as a Panther

Kenneth Moore (ERFA) - Sign

Jeff King

Keydrick Vincent - Sign

Julius Peppers - Let Go (Unless he signs a LONG term contract that doesn't cripple the cap space)

Nick Hayden (ERFA) - Let Go

Tank Tyler (RFA) - Sign

Thomas Davis - Sign (Only person worth giving a good contract to)

James Anderson - Sign (replacement for the aging Diggs)
