The Jets hired Hackett early this offseason because they wanted to lure in Rodgers, and it actually worked. This is because all Rodgers wants out of an offensive coordinator is some chump who will let him call every play using a series of elaborate hand signals and Navajo ciphers that are passed down strictly by oral tradition. It only takes 12 weeks for his teammates to learn Rodgers’s system. For roughly six to seven weeks after that, it’s unstoppable.

Aaron Rodgers told the world, via Pat McAfee, that he was 90 percent ready to retire, then took a four-day bath, then had a vision that he HAD to be a New York Jet. Rodgers issued this declaration before the Jets had actually traded for him, handing all of the negotiating leverage to Green Bay in the process. All Packers GM Brian Gutekunst did with that leverage was force the Jets to bid against themselves, eventually extracting a first, a second, a sixth, and a conditional second (that’ll almost certainly become a first) out of New York. For all of that, the Jets now get one of the most expensive headaches in the sport.

Aaron Rodgers was the 17th ranked quarterback in the league a season ago. He got eliminated from playoff contention by a Lions team that was even sicker of his bullshit than the Packers were. He had his worst passer rating as a starter last year. He didn’t pass for 300 yards once. He was utterly lost without Davante Adams and took it out on everyone still on the roster. His exit from Green Bay was an endless, debilitating affair that reduced nationwide life expectancy by three years. He collects nagging injuries like they’re rare Pokemon cards. He can’t go anywhere without his Randall Cobb. Oh, and he hasn’t won a conference title in well over a decade, playing with his own foot up his ass in every playoff game since. 

Gotta say Hackett was an even bigger moron than I imagined on Hard Knocks episode 1

Neither will save the Bucs and major potential is a stretch.  Let's see how they fair by the end of the season, then we can discuss their potential.

I think it was Ellis podcasts that addressed the Rodgers thing. He said he saw nothing  to support this Rogers being a problem talk. 

Probably being hyped by media for a story.

Florio is pure garbage.

Their defense is still good enough to keep them from having the worst record. They will be bad enough though to be within striking range of getting close enough to the top of the draft. You have to think that if the Cards do indeed have the top pick, which is reasonable, they aren't taking a qb. Or maybe they do and Murray is gone. It's a long way off no matter what, and we have no control over that mess.

      I'd disagree about the LAR game being stellar. He made a couple of key 4th down throws for touchdown, good throws and I give him credit for those, and a throw to Coker to seal the game but I wouldn't consider that a stellar game. The screen pass to Chubba was a standard screen pass. We had to have 2 4th down risky calls because the rest of the offense wasn't working. We were not moving the ball at will. Without a pick in the end zone and one returned for a TD, that 10 -14 point swing, we don't win that game. Bryce did not own that game. He had 3 great throws in that game, but that was really it. He did not dominate that game, at least from my point of view. 9 times out of 10, we don't win that game. Without those 3 takeaways, we don't win that game.  The Dallas game, he had 200 yards passing and 3/1, but again, I wouldn't consider that stellar. What Rico did was stellar. I would consider what Bryce did a good game for a starting NFL QB. That's what those stat lines reflect and what he did in game. Did he make some big throws. Yes. But again. He didn't own that game. Rico owned that game. Maybe that's a stellar game for Bryce. I consider it a good game for a franchise QB. I expect 8 of those performances a year.  Atlanta 2.0 was a stellar game. He did get a lot of help from his receivers with YAC but he was throwing it everywhere and he owned the field. That game he looked like a franchise QB.  It's all in how you look at it I guess. The bar has been so low that a good game for a starting NFL QB can be considered stellar for Bryce. I want and expect more from a starting NFL QB, especially one that's going to be coming off his rookie contract and won't be able to have all the resources spent to surround him just to have this level of performance. If Bryce was a 5th round QB and not a 1st we wouldn't be having this discussion and therein lies the real issue I think. We're so heavily invested it's distorted our perception. If Bryce was playing for any other team we line up against on Sunday we'd be salivating.
