If you expected a playoff year this year with rookie QB, entirely new staff, completely new schemes on offense and defense......

You don't football very well. That's never been the way it works.

Calm down and enjoy the process of watching a young team develop into something more (hopefully).

The team will make the playoffs this year and it will have more to do with the NFC South than how good the team is. 9 wins should get you in and a two game improvement from the previous season should be a realistic expectation.

In the past decade the nfc south winner has won double digit games all but 2 times.   Last year and us in 2014.   There has never been a wild card team with single digit wins in 20 years.   So unless you truly think this team can win 11-12 games then I would not hold my breath on the playoffs.   I just hope to see progression and competency for this team and staff.

In closing last year was a complete aberration and not anywhere close to the norm.

Well said. I was going to say something similar, but thought, "What's the point?"

Just now, Riverboat Ron said:

But if you’re not expecting playoffs this year or next wtf would you not trade Brian Burns to build in the dead years? We lost our top WR and top draft choices, if we aren’t expecting success within 2 years then why are we retaining expensive assets that degrade in value daily?

A hefty amount of posters were pointing this out in real time when that trade proposal was announced.

Saints, if healthy, are wining this division.

and they should build an early lead in the division while we are figuring stuff out.

We are rebuilding, focused on developing Bryce and hopefully figuring out a decent offensive and defensive foundation along the way.

That’s just being an objective NFL fan.  Anything can happen.  But that’s the objective take of the state of things in 2023.  And it’s why Vegas backs it.

and all that is okay.  There is fun in that.  This season is not about making the playoffs.  It’s not a realistic expectation.

Because we are poorly managed in the front office.  Which has been a known fact for some time.

I think the falcons are going to walk away with the south this year especially after what they did last night.

You have to get the trade value, and it should be immediate.

I think that smart people are expecting growth within two years. One year, is a great expectation.

If Wilks and Darnold stay, we expect playoffs.

If Reich and Young step in, we expect to be at the bottom of the league.

So, why did the Panthers break the bank on coaches and a QB?

Is it for a championship team? Is it for a dynasty? Well most of those teams win out of the gate in year 1. At most, they have 2 years to burn for losing records. Are we to think the probability of being a champion increases by burning one of those losing seasons in year 1?

We were told this is not a rebuild. These were improvements. If we are good with this being a rebuild, we know the likelihood is one, or both, of Reich and Young will be gone for the next shot at a championship team.

Wilks and Darnold were winning in a way that fans didn’t want.

    • forgot to include the quote: best play in panther history   Pretty great.  X Clown also. I was always real fond of Jake’s 1st play vs Jacksonville simply for his entrance into the huddle which completely woke people up. That and what they went on to do in that game was a major turning point for the franchise.IMO. Kris Jenkins’ kick xp block vs TB is a big one for me.
