Preseason DOESN'T matter per huddle insiders... John Harbaugh has a PSA for ya

There is no correlation between dominating preseason and dominating in the regular season. Also, in years past you had these guys who were starters throwing 50+ passes in preseason. Bryce has thrown how many?

If the starting QBs were on the field for like 12 drives in preseason, starters now get like 5.

You often have rookie defensive ends make little to no impact during preseason and then they have 7.5+ sacks as a rookie.

DJ Moore is a terrible preseason player. Yet he almost always puts up 1k yards in the regular season. DJ has 1 catch off of 1 target for a 62 yard touchdown in Chicago this year. He never caught a TD in any other preseason with us. And his 62 yards this year is only lower than his 75 yards in his rookie year. And in his rookie year he only caught 4 of the 12 passes thrown his way.

And there are countless examples of guys like this.

You guys are taking statements and trying to remove context. Winning and losing in preseason? Absolutely DOES NOT MATTER. Effort matters, sure. But you also need to remember that this is preseason and that is has no bearing on predicting how a player will perform in the regular season.

Who?  Who have you seen perform at a high level through 2 games?

Dude, I'm not just looking at two preseason games.

Ickey did damned well last season. Do you think he just forgot how to play? Do you think Shaq, Woods, Jones, Bozeman, T-mo and even some of the others have forgotten how to play at a high level based upon two fuging preseason games? Do you think guys like Campen have forgotten how to coach? I'm asking you too @Stumpy.

If this is what you believe, then I have nothing for you.

How many times have we as Panthers fans witnessed firsthand players "forgetting how to play" (aka regressing) due to poo coaching?

Damn near every player on our team "forgot how to play" under Rhule. Then, they all magically remembered once he was fired.

We had a coach who knew how to maximize the talent of his players. Unfortunately, Tepper is a shrewd enough business man to recognize that half his teams fan base would rather lose with a white man in charge than win with a fiery black man at the helm.

We strung Wilks along for months when they had no intention of hiring him and brought in a soft spoken white preacherman who makes the fans feel more comfortable.

We were damn near a playoff team last season with only 10 weeks of solid coaching. Daboll turned around the Giants from day 1. Meanwhile,we got fans ready to sign up for another one of Jay Z's patented 7 year plans...

This is such an absolutely stupid take.

Wilks wasn't the OL coach. Campen was and is. It took Ickey a few games last year. New offense so probably expect the same

It's what preseason is for after all

Let's just all hold on until Sept. 10. Then all of this either won't matter or we can say it really did.

And then we can move on, because we have to. The real season starts, the real team takes the field, the real results happen and the real consequences or rewards play out.

They did not forget how to play. Don't get a losing record, bad coaching, sketchy QB play, injuries and such mixed up with forgetting how to play.

Huh, so what you are saying is that a bad coach can make players look worse than they are...?

    • Just going off the draft sims and he's always sitting around 20 lol. First year in a while where we haven't been thinking about the draft already in late October so haven't really looked into the top 15-20 picks yet. Also the qb class is super weak so he probably will sneak up into 10-15
    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
