Anyone see Burns sitting out?

Nobody knows exactly why he isn't practicing, best guess it is contract related. Don't know anything about his agent. Bosa hasn't signed either, but he is at a different level.

Injury concern before the contract is negotiated? Being a hard ass and seeking to much $$$? If he does hold out, who plays?

Don't need these problems a week away from the first game.

He isn't gonna sit out but either way we're about to *overpay* him. He has all the leverage here considering we turned down 2 1sts and a 2nd round pick from the Rams. He's waiting on Nick Bosa to reset the market. I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up getting 26-28m a year.

He’s making 16M this year under the option, which is like top 12 this year.  Like I said in the other thread, players agree to the terms of the CBA, including the 5th year option and franchise tag, then want to pitch a fit when they have to play under either.  Honestly, 16-18M is prob right for Burns anyways.  He’s not top 10.  He’s certainly not top 8.

Pretty sure statistically burns is a top 5 edge rusher in the NFL. There was a Reddit article about this. He gets to the quarterback more than almost every edge rusher in the league (pass rush win rate)

I get you have a sour perspective on this but 32 out 32 NFL team would pay burns. We will pay him.

And he whiffs more than any of those other guys.  Burns simply doesn’t finish most of his opportunities.  Bosa has more sacks and missed basically an entire season.  They aren’t in the same league.

Go hold up a sign on Mint St… bc bitching about it here won’t get you anywhere.

Pay the man!

He's literally our pass rush!

Tepper can't do poo right. This contract should have been done in the offseason.smh

So you want Fitt to pay Burns 25-30M a season?  Before we even see how he does in a 3-4 scheme?  His numbers don’t even remotely justify him being top 3 in pay at his position

I’m not bitching about it.  Burns is the one bitching.  I’m simply stating a fact backed by plenty of statistics that he isn’t top 8 at his position in the NFL.

You will be crying for Burns when you see this defense without him. Hell we saw that in the preseason.

Burns is our best defensive player. What is with this fanbase and their lack of respect for Burns?

I love Burns.  I want Burns to sign for the next 10 years.  We are better with him.  I never once said I didn’t like him or that he didn’t make us better.  What I did say, is that he isn’t a top 8 player at his position.  And that’s a fact.  I can like a player and acknowledge he isn’t the best player in the world at his position at the same time.

    • Today, we are all Kucci... I miss our feral Russian attack goalie!
    • That was a good segment. Watched every minute of it and would highly recommend it to all fans.
    • "So much of what the Panthers are going to do next week isn't dictated by their preference, but by what happens above them. That's another benefit of not getting locked into need. For instance, if you're thinking you want a receiver, seeing five or six of them go off the board and reacting by taking the sixth or seventh off your list instead of the first (or second or third) something else isn't necessarily wise." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-back-into-the-weeds-of-the-nfl-draft-bryce-young-charlotte-hornets-mock-draft This is what some don't seem to get, I don't care how many times it is said: You're NOT going to draft an inferior person at one position, just because that position is perceived as, or is in fact, a bigger need. That would basically nullify, or at least lessen, the reason why you set yourself up via free agency to be able to take the BPA/BAP on the board in the first place.  Yes, the process is complex, very much involved and ongoing, but the overall philosophy is not rocket science. You set yourself up in order not to be pigeonholed into taking a lower graded player at the expense of a higher graded one. This is why Morgan, Gantt and countless of others say the same thing. This is why it's just nonsensical to set yourself in a position where you don't have to, but then act like you have to come hell or high water: "Oh, we have to draft [whatever position], and we can't draft [this position]."  I'm good with whatever they do, until proven otherwise, but even then, you have to be mature enough to know that drafting is an imperfect exercise, filled with hits and misses. And, you generally don't know if you've hit, and especially missed, right away. Moreover, like I've said before, sometimes two players--different positions or not--can both be hits on their respective teams, so in that sense, it's not purely about a right or wrong pick as much as it's about putting puzzle pieces together at the time the best way that you know how.  At the end of the day, people are going to believe what they want to believe, but one thing that's true is that what the Panthers do regarding the draft is dependent upon what others do, and what others do can and does change things. That being the case, it's just another reason why you can't go in with tunnel vision. The thought of doing that is preposterous.
