Remember all the feel good fluff from the team after we drafted him about Horn staying in the Carolinas? The Panthers need to get back to simply drafting the best football players and leave the feels at the door.

He:

  • filled a need
  • had no red flags or prior injury history
  • was considered by many the best prospect at his position

so please explain your hot take there?

You don't have to like it but it's the truth. The Panthers have been trying to draft local kids with feel good stories for over 2 and a half decades. 7 winning seasons.

If you're telling me you don't think we ultimately took him over Surtain bc of his local ties as the cherry on top there's nothing for us to discuss. Move along. Thanks.

This is the most ignorant post I've seen in forever. The Panthers are drafting local kids with feel good stories but have never even drafted a Clemson player? Yeah that makes a ton of sense.

Breaking news - a social media post after a player is drafted has nothing to do with why the player was taken in the first place.

Move along.

the wild thing is is that so many draft boards had PS2 over Horn leading up to the draft

but yeah the panthers FO 'knows better'

Folks who believed this also thought Scott Fitterer was once the smartest guy in the room with his "in on every deal" persona wheeling and dealing his way into yet another 5-6 win season. Meanwhile it's still all Matt Rhule's fault to some peolple.

Rhule wanted Horn because he was obsessed with players who were freak athletes and had the best RAS. Horn had a combine grade RAS of 9.99 and Surtain had a 9.96. That's why we got Horn.

That's an interesting take. I had no idea that your hamstring was located in your ankle.

Yep

he is a great athlete but he has too many non contact injuries

…artificial turf added to it

old saw ‘next ability. Is availability’

I remember the RAS shenanigans. I still think if Horn played for a school outside the Carolinas then Surtain would be a Panther rn. Just my gut feeling.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
