I didn't want Fields,  I wanted Carr. We gambled our future on Young. We could have drafted a QB and groomed him behind a pro.

Same.  And again, as I've said elsewhere, even if we were determined to trade up, I'm sure we were the only dumbass FO that was going to take Young at 1, so we really could've moved up for Stroud or AR (my preference of this class) if need be, for less.  And I still believe Hooker is going to be a good starting QB when healthy, and he could've been had way later.  But ideally, I was happy with signing Carr, playing the year out, then trading up next draft.  But, that's life as a Panthers fan.

If the Bears have the #1 pick, Caleb Williams might return to school.  He'll pull an Andrew Luck move.

So you are saying he would pass up his first year of eligibility to enter the draft and a $40-$50M contract and risk injury (just takes one hit) in a new conference dominated by Ohio St. & Michigan? I don't see it. If so, just find another Carolina to trade up and draft Maye.  Pretty sure there will be plenty of suitors.

No team in NFL history has a worst history of developing quarterbacks than the Chicago Bears. Their top 5 quarterbacks in terms of QBR are

Jay Cutler (never a top 10 QB when he played)

Sid Luckman (retired in the early 1950s & and still ranks #2 on their all time TD pass list)

Billy Wade (played with Ditka on the 1963 title team but is largely forgotten these days)

Jim McMahon (decent QB but far from great. Injuries and his clashes with HC Mike Ditka led to an early end to his career in Chicago)

Mitch Trubisky (nuff said)

Those are the top 5 quarterbacks in Chicago Bear history. Only one of them has played with team since the 1990s started. Why on earth would Caleb Williams want to leave college early to join that organization?

Especially when they have a defenses minded coach and GM who spent a ton of assets on defense only to still have the worst defense in football. If I’m Caleb I want an offensive minded coach.

Hmm, maybe to get paid and not risk an injury?  Do you think Carolina used the same path of thinking when they took a QB from Alabama over a QB from Ohio State?  Too early to tell but Stroud is looking pretty good right now.

If Caleb Williams wants to go to the pros solely for the money he certainly has the right to do so.

If he wants to play pro football at the highest level at the QB position & compete for the playoffs and world titles year in an year out for the majority of his career, then he needs to stay at USC one more year if the Bears even think about drafting him at #1. Chicago is a purgatory for NFL Quarterbacks.

Of just have the balls to say 'No, I'm not playing there'. In this case only Bear's fans and NFL execs would object.

Or he could pull an Eli Manning / John Elway

    • You found out what I said months ago. Its sort of simple, if Panthers/you want a edge....*Panthers need a starting edge that gets hurries/sacs/press/etc* You almost have to use the 1st on edge. Just the way it is, of course some .01% Panthers get lucky and a 4th rounder shocks the world and becomes a day one starter.    I hate double talk, I also feel the Panthers need a top backup ala Addison or Al Wallace. Sooooo I do feel the need to add one in mid rounds if possible. I mean Pat Jones is on the MAYBE cut list, Panthers need space, he had a back injury and had little impact on field. So....... It goes back to adding talent, Panthers need talent, young talent.  OT- In my finding Im able to land a "stud" in round 2 more than 50% of the current rating. Even in the 3-5 rounds, (duke lad) Im able to get a OT within the top ava. I normally draft two OTs with one must play LT at some point. So I feel the draft is weak, but one of the strong point and it helps panthers is the OT spot. A few of those OT in mid, some will be starters this year.    I posted this else where, but here is the best outcome for the Panthers given the mock draft finding- 1st- Edge 2nd- LT/OT 3rd- ILB 4th- BPA/safety/center/WR/OT/etc 5th- OT/edge/C/DL/TE 5th- """" 6th- QB/Punter/safety/NB/OL The draft feels weak at 80% of the spots and teams Im sure are on this thought too. This past draft feels much better and deeper against the pool There is no Mike green or Nic scro in the late 2nd. There is no Evans sitting there in late 5th. There is not even a Prince level edge in the 3rd by my finding. I feel Panthers for sure new to draft 2 OTs and I high believe drafting 2 edges, one must be a 1st tho. Then the remaining 3 picks one late on QB, one on ILB, and the last one BPA. Honestly the FA looks bad too, the huge problem is the amount of needed for Panthers and there's not enough cap space or draft picks to fill even half the issue this season. Its goes back to just add the best talented players possible, *so long they do not play OG, strong safety, Dbrowns spot, and Tmacs spot. Add talent everywhere else, cause its lacking.......Even CB with horn struggling and Mike Jack on a one year deal, Thor coming off injury. There room for a mid or even 2nd rounder being(ewwww) use at CB. I prefer what I posted above. Happy drafting 45!!
    • Yes.  We actually had a coach we paid millions to who burned a 6th for a long snapper strictly for the lulz.
    • A complete and total cancer to the locker room
