We could have just signed Dalton and saved 2 1st and a WR. Dalton at 36 has more upside and looks to have a longer career in front of him...

QB whisperer HC looks like it's time for the retirement home buddy

or even derek carr would have made more sense than selling the farm for bryce and benching him after 3 weeks to attempt to save a lost season

does situationally mean run a QB read-option with 35 year old dalton when we had 40 sec to drive into FG before half?

I literally laughed out loud when they ran that play.

I liked how the announcers talked about how Dalton made the right read keeping it. Well, no poo the D keyed on the RB. They aren't concerned with a Dalton keeper. He ain't going anywhere.

"Andy Dalton told me I was stupid and he was changing the play."

Literally. How many times did Dalton audible last night? That was most of the issue with the false starts. Everything was timed because of noise. Whether you blame shitty play calling or Dalton not sticking to the system that up to you.

Have they even clarified what the issue with his ankle is? Soreness? Strain? Sprain?

It makes people think of all these wild theories but the longer the vague updates continue.

Sprain 1-2 weeks.

Whoops!  I mean a "sprain" because Reich is pissed at Tepper's wife for forcing him to draft Young over Stroud and will now make him fake injuries so he can so how good of a coach he is with Andy Dalton.

True but Dalton is cheap with no commitment, the Saints were a good team on the decline and we were a bad team looking for a turnaround. Figure out a way to win with Dalton and then you can talk better. Rhule burned that option down while overpaying 3 times so it wasn't on the table for these fools.

I don't even think it's about salvaging the season as much as CYA because Young looks really bad and his ability to read Ds isn't helping him nearly as much as they projected. I think they are 100% in damage control and hoping they are given an out...which would be IR for Young at best. Even winning with Dalton wouldn't make Young look any better because Young's problems need to be fixed on the field and not on the sidelines. He isn't a project QB, he is a QB that needs to figure out how to overcome his deficiencies in a way he didn't back in school at that level of competition. The sitting him thing only delays the inevitable. He plays or it's a fail situation. He was the most pro-ready QB in the draft and pre-season but now he needs time to figure out the game? BS

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
