Question for the Burns pocket watchers...

This roster is bad, he's not holding up money for other players. The reason we traded for a rookie QB is so we can spend money! Guess who happens to be a top 2 arguably "the best" player on the team Brian Burns...

 

Most good players are overpaid. Burns plays arguably the 2nd most important position in football. Those guys get paid. He's not asking to be the highest paid defensive player. He's not even asking to be paid Bosa money. So I don't get why this fanbase is so concerned with our best player "arguably" getting paid. Of all the things wrong with this team it seems Brian Burns is the biggest concern at least for fans on The Huddle. I just don't understand why. Im just looking for answers from those people.

And just because we have a rookie QB contract doesn’t mean you go pissing away money like we did this past offseason and the last damn time we had a good rookie QB contract

We turned down 2 1st round picks my man. Cmon it was obvious they thought Burns was going to be a Panthers for a long time. You don't turn down that deal if you didn't think you could get a deal done with Burns longterm.

It's been discussed to death and it's still being discussed. Might as well get to the point because after Tuesday Burns is a panther. We will still be discussing his contract for the rest of the season?

My strategy is addition by subtraction. We add two new FA edge rusher types to replace Burns and give Barno and yep DJ Johnson some reps and hope they develop.  Use the extra monies to add a guard, sign our other FA's and be a player in the Tee Higgins sweepstakes.

My question to you is what has addition by subtraction gotten us?

 

We loss CMC and Moore and what have we got to show for it besides the worst record in football.

 

Putting your trust in Tepper and Fitt for a draft pick is just crazy to me. At least we know Burns is a good player and he's our good player. Just pay the man.

   It’s pretty simple if you understand anything about business and value. 
 

  The one team that elevated his “value”(but only to the Panthers) by turning down that trade offer won’t pay him what he wants. The one team that has backed themselves into a corner still won’t pay him. Because he wants 30M/year and about 80M guaranteed. And even the desperate Panthers know he’s not that guy. If he was seeking around 25/55, he would be signed. And other teams aren’t looking to spend draft picks for the privilege of overpaying a player that the Panthers won’t. 
 

  Why aren’t they paying him? They look worse every day. Yet they still don’t. Why is that.

I'm not opposed to him getting paid. I'm opposed to him getting paid what he wants. He wants nearly $30M per year. He ain't worth it. He's not the cornerstone of a dominant D and that's what nearly $30M per should get you.
