Al Wallace= Not a fan of Ickey

I know people have pointed out his PFF grade the last 2-3 weeks

Or his improvement once Wilks took over  in that scheme (the scheme that always brought a TE over to help him in pass pro)

But he is lucky he is a local kid and played on a local college.  If not he’d be thrown by fans onto the train tracks with the likes of Remmers and Cam Erving

He's been Byron Bell level bad in pass pro this year. I thought he'd shake it off after the rough preseason but man...he has been beaten like a drum consistently all season long

This

and people want to keep going back to the Wilks run last year.

But reality is.  If your only success as a LT is run blocking and always need TE help in Pass Pro.  Then you don’t have a LT

Yep. Cross was always the pick and we blew it because Ickey was a local kid.

Dont really care who they trot out at LT, but we need to rip the bandaid off and just move him to Guard.  I'd rather a really good guard than the worst LT in the NFL.  If he's bummed about it, its his own fault, he can either have a long career possibly as a guard, or be out of the NFL in 2 years as a Tackle.

Well we can't now. The OL is a fuging MASH unit.

That's a next year issue. Get him ready all offseason to play OG.

Plus we are 1-10. WTF does it really matter?

It probably wouldn't have been Cross. Probably would have been Neal who we also would be mad at.

It is what it is at this point. We should be used to whiffing on 1st rounders at this point.

I said it in the game thread and I’ll reiterate. We will suck ass until and ONLY until we overhaul the scouting department.

You CANNOT miss on high first rounders consistently and sign awful free agents all while trading away assets. Its fugging nonsensical and frustrating af to be perfectly honest.

For all the hate we threw at Hurney, he didn't miss often on these premium picks.

Wish we could say that now.

I said in the game thread that I don't care about the PFF grade when you're getting beat BAD multiple times per game. It's like a RB that gains a bunch of yards but has fumblitis. At the end of the day if you're a fumbler you're not a good RB. If you're a LT that gets smoked multiple times per game you're not a good LT.

thats kinda my point, he needs to learn the position, get him some real world play time right now.  The Toth dude was listed as a Tackle, and Ricky Lee is a tackle.  Dont really care who it is, they can go and be just as bad as Icky is while icky gets 6 games to help prepare him to play guard next season.

At this point I’m in agreement.. That position switch needs to be his offseason priority.. Whether he likes it or not..

Yeah he's a heavy-footed mauler and it's becoming clear he's not the athletic tackle we need in this zone blocking scheme.  In the right scheme he could maybe be a LT but he'd be wiping away his tears with hundred dollar bills as an All Pro LG.  It's not like those guys don't get paid.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
