Yeah, sorry but that's a really optimistic way to look at things.

David Tepper has earned a terrible reputation around the league. Besides being known as a meddler and hard to work for, you've got the "weekly meetings" story that let everybody know what Reich was going through.

Anybody that has good opportunities elsewhere will probably explore them.

How do you know this. Are you an NFL insider or is it a feeling.
I listen to a ton of sports shows and none have said Tepper has a terrible reputation.

Someone will be named the head coach, yes.

I have very little confidence right now that it will be "a pretty good name" unless David Tepper makes some very radical changes to how he operates.

Who would you be satisfied with as HC? I think you like Ben Johnson so you'd be good with that. I want to know off the cuff what other names you'd like (doesn't need to be a deep dive). Would just be curious to revisit in 10 weeks who ends up being named HC and if it's someone you'd like.

I don’t really care about names. The Reich firing last year and subsequent hiring this year were both talked about extensively. The media made fun of Irsay for weeks and said the Panthers had made a solid hire. Well you see how that turned out.

I guarantee you if we start winning games all the Tepper talk will go away and the meddling stuff will die down. Not that I don’t think he is a terrible owner because he is. However, I have a hard time believing that he’s out here acting as a de facto GM and telling Fitterer what free agents to sign and who to draft in the second round. Fitterer and the front office scouting staff has to go. If we get the right guy, regardless of whether he’s currently a hot name, the NFC south is a winnable division.

Multiple league insiders have reported it. Among them guys like Charles Robinson, Stephen Holder and others.

Reich's statement that he had weekly meetings with Tepper made a lot of waves.

Frank Smith Is the first name that comes to mind. One of the advantages you have with him is that he's already worked with a smaller quarterback in Tua, so that could help him with Young.

If we're talking about GMs, the first guy Idy want to call Is Will McClay of the Cowboys. They've drafted consistently well under his watch.

If Fittz is still here then it's not going to matter. It's just doubling down on past mistakes time.

Anyone that signs up for what is in store the rest of this season and next deserves what Frank got, a bag of cash and lots of reasons for other teams to not hire you.

Why do people make such big deals of the owner having weekly meetings? Would have thought that would be normal. I think even Richardson met with Rivera for meetings during the season.

Honestly, we need a Head Coach on the defense side of the equation. One who can pick a competent OC and QB coach, then stay out of their way.

Our identity is a stout defense and a punishing running game. Get back to that and they can open up a world of opportunities for Young or whoever we install behind that dotted line we have.

From one of Joe Person's colleagues at The Athletic...

Throw in weekly meetings with a meddling owner.

Last year we approached it as we were a few moves away from contending. Surely the understanding this time around is we need a hard reset/rebuild, and whichever coach they choose will have a few seasons to demonstrate progress/growth. Does Tepper realize this? Who knows but nearly everyone in the fanabse is on the same page of thinking on this.

    • We have taken two TEs in three seasons I think, and Sanders may not pan out or it may have been a sophomore slump, but we took a guy last year that was coming on.  I am not in favor of TE in round one and really don’t consider it a high priority in any round.
    • Trevon Moehrig, Turk Wharton, Bobby Brown, Jaelen Phillips, Devin Lloyd, Nic Scourton Giving him 6 starters in 2 offseasons that cost boat loads of money or a 2nd round pick... Not exactly handing the man scraps. The point of the draft is to make the team better. You want to make this about Bryce. It isn't. It's about improving the team. And if anyone can look at our offense and go "we're good", they are lying to themselves. You give quarterbacks weapons. We SCREAMED for YEARS to give Cam some help. But now because we are trying to do it for Bryce, you all are saying we are coddling him because of his "deficiencies". It's a double-standard because you don't like the guy, clearly. But even if he does fail, guess what? The next guy has help too. Win-win.
    • we have 2 solid/above average (however you want to phrase that) wr's, which is more than half the league at least.  We dont need to be blowing more first round capital just to placate Bryce and his limitations.   We have one absolute stud (probably top 10 wr) in tmac and we have a high floor guy with insane potential if he can stay healthy.  Yeah man we are in better shape than the bulk of the teams in the league.  If you need to add some speed or whatever, sure draft in the mid rounds or wait until tc cuts.  Its monumentally stupid to spend 3 straight firsts on a wr if thats the route they go.  ITs just more and more excuses for Bryce, thats where we are at now.    "How can bryce succeed without a big possession type wr (drafts 2 for him), how is bryce supposed to exceed without a speed guy......."   Its fuging never ending.  Give EE some goddamn help on defense for once
