Had the Panthers gone for a TD and scored, they would have been up 12-7, contingent on the outcome of the two-point conversion. If they miss the conversion, an Atlanta TD wins it outright.

Up until Ridder’s INT, Atlanta moved the ball with ease the drive before the GWD. With 1st and Goal at the 1 yard line with 1:41 left, you have to keep the ball out of Atlanta’s hands at that point. You simply do not give the Falcons the ball with the chance to win/tie.

Exactly. Too much could go wrong to do anything but what they did. Less risk to do exactly what they did.

I was at a packed BOA stadium versus the Saints in monsoon like conditions years ago.  Rain hindered the crowd today, but it wasn't going to be close to a respectable attendance even without the rain.

It wasn’t a cold rain like today, I worked the game at the stadium the one you’re talking about. The concourse today was packed so lots of people “there” just not in the seats.

The pictures say the stadium was practically empty.  Hard to believe people bought tickets just to stand in the concourse.  It might be drier, but those concourses are not warm especially the upper bowl with the wind.

I was at the game today, not a lot of people there today but more than these pictures before the game let on. Lots of people waiting about till kickoff to go to their seats.

    • He has attempted 8 shootout goals in his NHL career and made 1. He is among our worst SO guys on the entire roster in terms of career stats.
    • Against Miami, the Panthers were behind by 17 in the 2nd quarter facing a 4th - 5. Young completed a 21 yard pass and they went on to score 7 on that drive. Then in the 4th, down by 4, they faced a 4th - 5 and again, he completed a 17 yard pass and they went onto score a TD for the win. He also accounted for 2 of the 3 TD's.  As I said, he got them in that mess and no doubt, Rico gets credit as well, but missing on either of those 4th down conversions hands the ball over and results in 1 or 2 less TD's giving them a loss. As you said though, that's just a small quibble. The real question is how does the FO see it?  I am guessing they see it as something to build on. I think most peope here see it as a total loss and fully expect the FO to see it that way as well. Time will tell.
    • Kochetkov is just too streaky. TBD if Freddie is doing that too. Freddie is the more reliable goalie over his career. The Bussi kid looks like he could be a solid #2 eventually.  Just need to figure out the #1 guy. Same as almost every year. It's not talent, it's consistency and being able to step up in the playoffs.
