Ive read several reports that he won't be retained. I don't have any links, but I keep hearing that since the Packers Defense did so well without him in their new 3-4, that they really don't need him. Does anyone know if hes a UFA or RFA or anything? I see now that he's 30. I think id prefer to bring in someone younger.

He'll be released/let go for free. Packers hate old players(see: Drafting Aaron Rodgers 2 years before Favre retired) and Kampman is a 4-3 DE that was thrown into a new 3-4 defense as a LB, where he failed. He is someone we should really look into because he's still a good player, and I'm sure is looking to play DE again.

30 might be older for an NFL player, but experience means a lot too... we've go to get someone in there if they let Peppers go. So look at everyone who's available... Kampman had a good year last year didn't he?

All depends on your offseason approach.

The area of biggest need is WR. The DE slot could become the second biggest need if peppers is allowed to leave with no compensation (something I still don't buy will happen).

Your two biggest offseason weapons are your highest draft pick and your big free agent contract. The question would become whether it's better to throw free agent money at a DE like Kampman and use the highest pick on a receiver or to flip the script and throw the free agent money at a guy like Antonio Bryant and use the high pick on a DE.

Overall quality of those available from either pool makes a difference here.

If he is at least 90% healed from his ACL injury then I wouldnt have a problem with him being in a Panther uniform next year

If we lose Peppers and he's available then sign him... but consider whether we want him or Vanden Bosch who may also be available?

Kampman could be an interesting choice if he is cheap enough. I expect we won't get in a bidding war for a FA but would pick someone else if they come at a good price. Bottom line is we will be value shopping this year not breaking the bank.

He would definitely be cheaper than Peppers, similar age, but he is a much more consistent player as far as playing hard every down.

I watched a few interviews of him and he seems to be rather intelligent and someone who would be a solid team player. It just comes down to the price tag and how well he is healed.

I would prefer him over Bosch as he puts up 10+ sack seasons more consistently.

30 is kinda old for a DE. I would rather have seymour and the only reason is cause he could play DT also.
