I know a lot of you don’t want to hear it, but if we take another QB high it will be in the 2025 draft at the earliest. Maybe we take a flier on a late round guy or sign a vet for competition, but our goal this offseason is to try to build an offense around Young. If he keeps struggling then 25 is our year to move on IMO. You don’t make that kind of trade like we did without giving that player a ton of opportunities.

Just prolonging the inevitable

Brugler spoke on him on Prospect to Pros some weeks back.  The interest seems lukewarm on the scouting front but some teams do like him.  Personally, I've been a fan and have followed him, but think he's more in the Bo Nix/Cameron Ward tier than JJ McCarthy.

The arm strength is just good, not great.  The injury history is there.  Age is up there (although that seems to be about every QB these days being 23+).  His accuracy has greatly improved but he still has to work on timed & layered throws.  He's got some gamer in him though and is a fun dude to root for.

Let's be real, the hype will get him into the top of the first round by the draft.

Definitely not, but I could see a Mac Jones type rise where he ended up going mid-1st. I just think the arm strength question mark is pretty obvious and then you have the extensive injury history and age issue. It's a lot of red flags. But the guy is probably the most consistently accurate passer in college football and accuracy tends to translate. I'm definitely curious to see how it plays out for him on the next level. I honestly won't be shocked no matter how it goes.

Maybe. However we have to fix our offense in general. Look no further than Baker Mayfield. Was awful here and got cut midseason to give Darnold a chance. That was with Moore and CMC (part of the time). He goes to Tampa and has a solid season. We need to build this offense and then insert a QB in 25 if needed. Hire the right GM/HC, fix the OL and add some weapons first. Like I said we can add a vet or late round flier to compete with Young in 24.

I honestly expect us to plan to roll with Bryce again next year but bring in a Brissett or Minshew type solid vet backup to push him. I'm just not at all convinced that Tepper will allow for a legit competition that Bryce could very possibly lose to that type of vet. But I don't think you can just hand Bryce the job again without at least the show of a competition.

I too have looked at Baker Mayfield and found that as a way to look to the possibility we just need to hit on the right staff.

But Baker has always had the necessary phsyical intangibles and he's always had a pretty good deep ball. He's also 10th in yards per attempt. It's fair to ask if BY had Mike Evans would he even sniff 1k yards here.

We need a good GM to be straight with Tepper. Like “I’m taking the job knowing I have full roster control” kind of guy. If Tepper truly wants to win he needs someone like this.

I agree and have said a couple times. A vet or late round flier to push him and of course if he shits the bed or gets injured we will still have a plan.

My concern is all the rumors that say that Tepper has gotten rid of anyone willing to tell him the truth. He wants yes men. Until that changes I don't see our fortunes in the field changing. Whatever "analytics" Tepper has cooked up to drive decision making has failed miserably.

Evans would help any QB. AT has over 1000 yards with Young throwing to him. Of course Evans would. Baker having talent and completely struggling here is my point. People keep wanting a quick fix. It’s like Tep thinking a rookie QB can play PG and make all these WRs look better. Mahomes is struggling (for Mahomes) with lesser WR talent and he has Kelce plus Rice has had a good rookie year.

Yeah that will never work. I’m hoping all of his frustration changes things. His team is at rock bottom and hopefully he is looking in the mirror.

I keep going back to the point that David Tepper the owner would've fired David Tepper the President of Football Operations numerous times in these past six years. He has to swallow that bitter pill and "fire" himself from his current role within the organization. He has to sculpt a new role for himself that has much less involvement on the football side of the house.
