Yes--here is one of the articles about it--includes some names like Bienemy as well.

If I recall correctly, the year that we hired Ron Rivera, oddsmakers had Bill Cowher listed as the betting favorite.

(pretty sure Jon Gruden had nice odds as well)

Big GM interviews today.

The Brian Johnson/Alec Halaby chirp by Caplan is uh, erhmm..

And then the Morgan one - I think we all suspected he'd get legit consideration.  I would hope there would still be some overhaul to our scouting dept even if its the case.  The crew that coalesced on these last 2 drafts should not be something to model after.

Which could be a good thing. I think the Reich hire always felt rushed last year. Part of me deep down wonders if we were so eager to make a hire that’s why we didn’t give Steichen a serious look and didn’t even bother to reach out to Gannon

Reich hire felt rushed for sure but only putting your focus on one candidate was recipe for disaster.  I imagine with this process there's contingencies in place for if even your 5th preferred candidate is hired away.

See, this is where the logic of "Hey, let's do things like that one successful team" breaks down.

It's fine to be impressed with the Steelers record. Using that as justification to request an interview with Matt Canada? Not so much 😕

This is utterly false. I highly doubt anyone knows anything at PFN about the search that the Panthers beat reporters wouldn't know first. It is highly "suspected" that the Panthers will like Halaby due to his background in analytics and connections with Sportsology in the past. I noted a few days ago how it was interesting the Champ Kelly news came out the following day while they were interviewing Halaby almost as a distraction.

I do not doubt Halaby will be a finalist for this role, but to just clump Brian Johnson in with Halaby just because they are with the same organization is lazy reporting to generate interactions. Johnson’s performance has been clear and I highly doubt a Harvard grad and analytics "guru" would vouch and attach his name to for somebody the entire Eagles organization and fan base seems to despise and hint at replacing through every media outlet available.

The only way I can imagine these folks promoting Morgan to GM is if they are bringing in one of these guys to serve as President/Ops Director/etc.

That opens up AGM for somebody like an Adrian Wilson or similar.

I'm not interested in either of them.

    • Pytor kochetkov assigned to Chicago for conditioning stint. Wonder if he gets playing time in the playoffs if Bussi or Freddy flounders
    • What specific LT at 19 are all of the OT Stan’s wanting? Be specific. All have issues and are not guaranteed to improve the OL.. The chances of one of these LT’s who are projected at 19 (Proctor, Lomu) being a bust is much higher than a guy like Lemon/Concepcion imo. Do you really want to draft a kid who has weight struggles along with lateral movement issues? And the other who was a shitty run blocker vs Big 12 competition? Morgan and Co. want to see how Rasheed Walker plays.. They also want to see how Icky’s rehab goes.. There’s a lot of  “wait and see at OT”  We don’t have the luxury for our 1st round pick being a backup. We lack top end talent. Morgan and the others have made it known they want to win now. For that reason, I’m almost positive we punt on OT in the first this year and worry about it next year in the first round if need be.    Thieneman would be ideal. He’s a natural “center field” safety with great coverage skills. For the posters who want trade up for Downs…Do you realize he struggles in coverage? He’s more of a box safety. We already have two of those players.. I wouldn’t mind trading in front of the Vikings for the Thieneman though.. Next need would be DT, but I don’t see the value there at 19.. Same with edge. WR at #19 is very realistic. Who would improve this team more than Lemon/Concepcion? You could argue a slot CB, but the value isn’t great there either. People tend to forget the Seattle Seahawks game.. Yes BY sucked, but no one was getting open.. We could use a quick savvy route runner to beat man coverage. TMAC and Coker are great, but consistently creating separation vs Man Coverage is not their strength.
    • Freddie owned this game. My 1st star.
