Doubling down on Young. I don't like it. We NEED Young insurance.

Just sign Minshew, Tyrod, or Brissette.

Bryce needs game-day competition but not career competition. And the Panthers need wins.

A season late. Signing one of those guys should have been the solution this year.  But the whole impatient owner thing got in the way.

They are all free agents this year.

Upgrade QB2 and let Bryce compete each week this year (but not career).

Eh, you don't know my background on this subject.  I was advocating for a FA QB this year foregoing the 2023 QB class and waiting until the loaded 2024 class at QB.

What difference does it make between those guys and Dalton? Zero

Dalton is better, but point being we are still stuck with Young.  "Fixing" him will pretty much take the entire season and if, BIG IF, Tepper finally allows the plug to be pulled, the season will be down the crapper already.

And no, I'm not a fan of the 2025 QB class, at least for franchise QBs.    So the notion of Young leading us to our next rookie QB after next year is not a palatable proposition for me.

Impatient owner.  Impatient fans. Both are recipes for disaster. Should have just chilled at 9.  We needed to build the roster instead we depleted it by trading Moore and going all in on Young.   Taking BPA at 9 was the move.

Now you want us to scrap a rookie who was dropped into dysfunction. Baker,Teddy, and Darnold all failed here too. Maybe it's the organization not the player. The QB at 33 is not likely to succeed here either. JJ, Bo and Penix could all be reaches by the Falcons, Giants, Vikings and Broncos of the league. Bo could be Paytons replacement for Russ.  JJ could sit behind Danny Dimes and be Daboll's guy in the future. That leaves Penix who honestly along with the rest of the second tier guys is a 3rd round prospect but will be pushed to the top because of the premium value that QB's have. Scrap the number 1 ( Maybe he shouldn't have been) for the 4th best QB in a top heavy class, Yeah that makes sense.

If there's a QB there we like, you take him. You don't bank every other player on offenses development on whether or not BY can look like a NFL qb. It's time to draft and play to win. BY is just another QB at this point. Bring in competition at camp. If he beats them, fine. If he doesn't, put his ass on the bench.

If you want to change the environment in the franchise, start by making it clear, no one's starting job is safe and that includes last years number 1 pick.

There is no reason to spend even more draft capital or money on ANOTHER QB when we are not 1 QB away from being competitive.

We stick with Young one more year.

Also, I don't think he's as much of a lost cause as you seem to. His decision-making is not as bad as you say, he actually learned throughout the season (Case in point the 2nd Falcons game where he bated Bates on numerous throws so he wouldn't get picked again) and his escapability got better as the season went on and he got used to the game speed of the NFL. The line played like crap, receivers played like crap, the scheme was crap, no one looked good.

It's a big fat N/A for damn near everyone on offense, but no, the backup plan should be the backup QB, which is Dalton, who is a damn good backup and we don't need to waste more assets on another.

If Young shows no improvement next season then we move on and draft a new QB in 2025.

Well said.

It's obvious the team is not ready to give up on Young. You can debate the merits of that all you want but be assured that it's his job to lose.

Now you can probably debate on how confident they are in Young turning it around by how they actually do approach the position in the offseason, as you say. If there is real competition acquired then I will have to reevaluate the offseason behind the scenes decisions.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
