Maybe Moore NOT starter (per Gantt, per sources)

top dawg

Well, if that ain't mixed signals! But, it's probably for the best. LINK

Two league sources said the Panthers have put out word they're looking for someone to compete with Matt Moore for the starting job. That's a slight departure from what they said Friday when they announced the release of Jake Delhomme, but given that Moore's started seven NFL games, it makes sense.

Competition is a good thing.

It will push Moore to performe at his best

Fan's forget Panthers are a RUN first team...

All Moore has to do is come in hand ,protect the ball ,and throw a more accurate pass than Delhomme did to STEVE>

Steve made alot of Jakes high sailers and Floaters look good .

Moore has already shown he can do all the above

Manning,Brady type QB's are not coming to Panthers

Nothing to read here. Of course they want someone who can compete to start.

You have a young and relatively unproven guy. To pick up someone who was not starter quality would be a huge mistake.

Gannt is trying to find filler for his reporting.

Why do people keep talking about drafting a QB as a solution to our QB depth situation?

Right now, our QB stable has a cumulative total of 7 NFL games and some change. How will drafting another unproven rookie improve that situation? We need a veteran who, if need be, can start week 1.

I tend to agree.

Unless a guy fell into our lap and was clearly the BPA, I am not keen on taking a QB early.

We have Moore....very young. Why would you want a young guy that you hopefully are making your starter...backed up by a rookie.

We end up like Cleveland.

I hear this guy named Jake Delhomme is available.

seneca wallace is now a brown, so maybe one of the qb's from the cleveland stable is going to be shipped out of town. i am a moore backer and want him to start. he still needs another wr to help make his and smitty's life easier, but a veteran backup would make me feel better.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
