I don't know....that would be hard to pass up.

Especially if it included this years draft.

Problem is if you are offered two firsts, one of them would need to be at his position in an attempt to get someone as good as he has become. Then there's the risk that they are not nearly as good or their development does not happen.

True, but that also frees up a lot of future cap.

I'm just saying it would be hard to outright deny it if some comes knocking. Especially after what we experienced with the Burns situation.

Perhaps the problem is looking at it from the perspective of Tepper. What does an investment guru know about paying labor? Get the most work for the least money.

Just one more wrinkle in the Tepper ownership that will screw the team again and again.

I do so wish he'd sell the team and move back up north.

Brown deserves the big pay check and honestly the sooner the better. You want to keep his performance up through out his career here. We don't need another guy just begrudgingly showing up and doing just enough to stay on the field and attract suitors.

We’ve been through this before. Same argument for Burns and we all saw how that ended. If someone offers you the Rams’ Burns deal for Brown right now, you take it. If he was on his rookie deal for a few more years, might be different but like Burns, Brown will be expensive.

Ponder this, with Brown’s future money we could have signed Wilkins this year and had Wilkins plus two firsts and a 2nd. There are always good FAs who can replace all (Reddick) or at least 80% plus you have a chance to add 3 more starters with the draft picks, especially with Fitterer out of the building.

When you’ve sucked for 6 years, one edge rusher or one DL is not going to change your team’s direction. Hitting on a great trade and getting 3-4 above average starters will.

Difference in Burns and Brown though. Brown actually plays with heart.

I do see where you are coming from though and yes, two first rounders for almost anyone other than a franchise QB could very well be worth it as long as we dont have Fitt. drafting those pics. My hope is Morgan is a much better drafter than Fitt was.

It’s where we are as well. Burns could have had 12.5 sacks again and I would have still wanted the trade.

Look at all the “Morgan has one more move to make and he’s won the offseason” posts in here. We are better at the guard positions. We lost Burns. We added Diontae Johnson. We lost Luvu, YGM and Bell. We get some level of Shaq back and some other guys. We were a couple kicks away from 0-17. Maybe it’s just me but I’m not feeling special this year especially because I don’t feel Young has it anyway. I like some of the moves but I also think we need to hit the draft huge to get back to even 2017 competitiveness. Redoing the 2022 trade moves/not moves would have helped and while I like Brown, I know he’s not winning the SB. Getting 3 above average starters for him would be awesome.

Rams 2024 pick is 19. Here’s a smattering of guys picked at 19 or a few picks later the past few years: DJ Moore, JJefferson, Flowers, Addison, Kincaid, McDuffie, Paye, Etienne, Aiyuk, Love, Simmons, Jacobs, Brown, Sweat and a variety of starting OL. Actually seems like a sweet spot for OL and WR looking back at that early 20s pick range.

    • Sometimes you get very valuable information from fantasy football sites. I found an analysis that you may want to read from The Fantasy Footballers. Perhaps you'll gain an insight as to why we moved up and got him. As always, here are a few snippets: "As expected, he dominated in the 2023 season. He averaged an impressive 2.03 Scrimmage Yards per Team Play, which ranks in the 86th percentile among all junior seasons since 2013." "Naturally, after initially playing behind two NFL-caliber running backs, Brooks’ career numbers do not jump off the page. However, his 2023 campaign gave us a glimpse of just how massive his upside could be at the next level. In fact, Brooks is one of only TWO running backs in this class to exceed 2.00 Scrimmage Yards per Team Play within their first three seasons in college."  "If you watch Jonathon Brooks’ film, you will find multiple plays in which he created yardage with his quick feet and lateral agility. He is elusive in open spaces and has an impressive ability to stack multiple cuts to avoid contact. Combined with his impressive burst and acceleration, Brooks can be a matchup nightmare in the second and third levels of the defense." "While Brooks is not the most physical running back, he does have a knack for absorbing contact and bouncing off defenders. You see this time and time again in his film." "He showcased a willingness to initiate contact with the pass rusher, the strength to maintain blocks, and the quickness to adjust to the defender’s moves. In addition, per PFF, Brooks was a top-three running back in the 2024 class in pass-blocking grade last season. He was also one of only two running backs in the class to average a 0% pass block pressure rate, highlighting just how effective he was as a blocker." "In short, Brooks has tremendous upside as a prospect. Even with his ACL injury, I would still be comfortable drafting him in the early second round of rookie drafts. In fact, I would not be shocked if he finished his career as the most productive running back in this class. However, we just need to temper our expectations for his rookie year as he slowly ramps up to full health." Marvin Elequin provides more here (including video clips): https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/dynasty/2024-rookie-profile-rb-jonathon-brooks-fantasy-football/   Basically, Brooks has the potential to be a beast, and was well worth the 46th pick (and most mocks had him going mid second round anyway). He's not JAG. Someone had to make the move and take him, and we were the ones to do it. He's elusive, has good speed and acceleration, exceptional contact balance, and is an outstanding blocker. Just like any nice RB transitioning to the league, he will need to get used to taking what the defense gives him, while also showing discriminating patience, but he has demonstrated some ability on that front in college. Brooks' only real knock is the ACL. But ACLs aren't career ending anymore, or even skill ending as evidenced by Dalvin Cook, Todd Gurley and others. We'll just need to temper our expectations during his rookie campaign while he gets back to form. Once he does, we'll finally have the talented three-down back that has eluded us since Stew retired.

Took the Rams trade but stayed put at 52 and at the top of the 3rd.
