Bottom feeder organization.

Hard to get excited about anything this franchise does but if he works out it’ll be a nice surprise.

If the guy gets open and catches the ball, why would that not be something to get excited about?

Steelers fans are generally morons. Look at Tepper.

They are typically mindless fans. People with homer glasses on will think every player on the roster is awesome, every acquisition was genius, and every loss of a player was the best move because they weren't that great anyways.

Steeler fans are the cowboy fans of the north.

I wouldn't exactly consider them and their opinions of any former or current player as objective at all.

I mean our resources are limited this year. Its really a win-win for Carolina. They get him on a 1-yr deal basically. A year that he has a lot to prove if he wants to get paid. If he doesn't work out, you only lost a guy you was releasing anyways. We are basically getting to test drive.

A) He goes off, wants to resign, we have a clear #1 WR.

B) He goes off, doesn't want to stay here, we tag and trade.

C) He is a locker room cancer regardless of ability and we get to observe before committing to anything long term.

D) He sucks, and we let him walk.

My guess is a mixture of B/C. I think he manages some borderline 1000 yard season with a few TDs and acts like he is god and wants crazy money so Morgan just trades him at the EOS to somebody who is just a WR away.

We'd have to trade him before the trade deadline (which I believe is right after week 9).

I hope he's reasonable. We're only on the hook for $10 mil. We're going to have to up his salary by quite a bit if things go well and all parties want him to stay. I could really see somewhere in the vicinity of doubling of that amount if things go well.

Their organization has a history of success. Generally always in the playoff discussion.

You guys do this every year. You get yourself amped up over a FA signing or drafting some project and 98% of the time the ceiling is JAG. I’m just bringing it back down to earth. It’s OK to be hopeful but I’m done being excited until we prove something.

lol who is amped up over the guy? i think he's a solid addition and could be exactly what we've been needing. am i crowning him an all-pro or any such nonsense? no. i just think that he's worth a shot and until he starts showing his ass and becoming a problem, i'm going to be giving him the benefit of the doubt. is that too amped up for you?

some people just need a scene change. that could be this guy. or he could just be a problem wherever he goes. until he is a problem, though, he's not. no point in getting worked up over a potential cancer until he starts doing some damage. no point in worrying about it because there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it. so why not wait and see?

    • This is the best path forward IMO right now.  Try and get a pass rusher with potential in FA, and those guys as the first two picks? Sign me up.  We have to get another LT in here in case Icky is done for, for Bryce and/or the next QB. Part of me says screw it, build the defense, get Nijman back for LT, and if Bryce can't make it work, he shows it. But then we're just right back in 2027 probably needing a QB AND a LT. I think LT has to be one of the first 2 picks and we hope he's a good one. Every move right now to me should be about building the team that's ready made for a QB in 2027, whether that's Bryce or another rookie.
    • Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT.  What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making  I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS.   So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.
    • I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light.  He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here.  I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad.  I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.
