Just check the link and tell me if you still think Coleman can be an X.

Thank you.

I hate to do this because it is totally unfair to Coleman, but the Benjamin comparisons in my head scare me.

About Legette- these weaknesses listed on the NFL.com site scare me to death because everyone one of them are things you have to do as a WR in the NFL:

  • Can win the catch phase, but the release and route phases lack polish.  (will never be an X if he can't release-will struggle to get open if he can't run routes)
  • Tennessee’s tight press-man coverage was all over him for much of the game.  (This makes sense considering the other issues--translation--runs a 4.39 40 but plays like he runs a 4.93 40)
  • Rushes through route design rather than selling it to the cornerbacks.  (does not understand timing?)
  • Below-average quickness getting in and out of his breaks.  getting out of breaks creates separation.  Benjamin and Funchess?  Legette has straight line speed but not quickness--that is HUGE)
  • Hits cruise control and waits for jump balls rather than keeping foot on the gas.  (not sure what he is trying to say, but could he mean that he is not a dawg?)

I am a Gamecock fan, but I fear he is a "one hit wonder" and a "workout warrior" rolled into one big "ball of bust" (made that last one up myself)

I think it will come down to Legette or Coleman, as has been stated by many people. I think it comes down to who is available. There are some sources that believe Legette could sneak into the 1st round. If he doesn't, I think he is the pick. Coleman is likely next on the board. They are looking for a true X receiver.

I've seen Leggette everywhere from the teens to 68(3rd round). It actually seems like the closer the draft gets the more he slides.

I don't think it's unfair.  I think you can do it with both the FSU guys this year.  I mean, the following draft profile is on NFL.com.  Is that KB? or Coleman or Walker?

He’s not sudden and doesn’t have great speed, so beating press and creating breathing room against tight man coverages will depend on his ability to improve as a route-runner.  might lack the athletic traits to be a well-rounded WR2. Instead, keep an eye on him as a big slot receiver who can be a red-zone specialist.

i honestly wouldn't hate it. the guy is a beast. honestly a toss up between him and Leggette if we're going for big bully WRs.

i want one of them and a separation/route specialist like Pearsall or Malik Washington later. i figure Ladd is going to be gone anyways so i'm not even thinking about him anymore.

Agree with this.

Leggette/Coleman are actually my top 2 WRs I want. I don't get the Benjamin comparisons with Coleman. He's faster and much more athletic. Benjamin always had a problem with his weight. Coleman is just a solid tank of muscle.

I get it. Some aren't willing to invest. As for me, I say the risk is worth the reward. He has high upside.

I will say that in the past, I've found the profiles on NFL.com to be very dated (as in a year or more old as far as the main profile). I've seen some with dates before, but maybe they don't do that anymore, or are inconsistent. Moreover, you're not going to find the perfect receiver this far down. In this class, other than maybe the three, they're all going to have some questions and need polishing.

I wouldn't say he's sliding. He was never really rated a first rounder to begin with. Some FO might think he's worth a second, and some may not pull the trigger until the 3rd. But, honestly, that's most of them outside the top three to maybe five.

Honestly, I would rather have Malik Washington and Jermaine Burton on day 3 if we can't get one of the other tier 2/3 guys.

Burton is interesting.  Seems to have a lot of talent, but is a bit of a headcase.  We do have Young who knew him from High School in Cali and of course played with him in college.  I wonder how he feels about drafting Burton?

He might slip all the way to the fifth-UDFA. I think there's zero chance he lands here but the dude is talented regardless

    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
