This may be absolutely true. He honestly probably needs to mute the social media stuff, if for nothing else because of how it looks when juxtaposed against his struggles, but the HC and the QB haven't done the kid any favors.

In general, I guess I can see why some think the kid is sh¡t (basically), but I bet that he'd be doing better in a better situation.

I don't think the Panthers did the guy any favors trying to promote him so hard this off-season. It seemed like they were ready to try to make this guy the face of the franchise and his game just isn't ready for that level of hype at all.

Based on what? A supposedly missed draft prospect? The professionals miss all the damned time. Your comment makes little sense.

based on what people were saying about Ladd/XL in this very thread.

I mean, the safe pick was Ladd, but he wasn't without an injury history.

missed 4 games at the start of 2023 with a lower back injury, but that was mostly precautionary since they weren't playing anyone. If the games had mattered he would have played. those georgia teams did the same thing with lots of players since they were so much better than everyone else, most notably brock bowers.

then missed a random game with a high ankle sprain but came back the next week.

39 games in his college career.

Legette had an outstanding season his last year. That's undeniable. Considering his terrible QBs, covid disruption, and simply personal tribulations, you have to take all of that into account. You're trying to act like no one wanted him. He was over-drafted by us somewhat, but I bet that he'd have gone somewhere in the second anyway. It's easy to make all kinds of hindsight evaluations, but there was a lot---and still is---of upside with Legette. Sometimes you take big swings and miss. But, like I said, I still think it's too early to be giving up.

Brother, if you think he had an outstanding season, I am not sure we are gonna ever agree on anything with this kid.

I am not giving up, per se. He is meeting my expectations for the pick. I certainly hope your unbridled optimism proves to be true.

There was a string of games/targets where he was dropping balls and looking exactly like what he does now

I mean, I'm a Georgia alum, I know all about Ladd, and probably would've drafted him over Legette for that very reason. He isn't the biggest receiver. I even said at the time that I considered him more of a comp to Cooper Cupp (albeit a faster version).

I mean, come on, you really can't base anything on two games, especially those last two of Legette's. AD Mitchell is not lighting the world on fire by any means, and certainly didn't his rookie year.

One thing I will say is that a change of QB, as well as competent coaching, can make a huge difference.

Twas a joke on myself

he blew up against like, Furman and UNC and Jacksonville State University

He completely vanished against competent teams. 1 reception for 20 yards against Missouri, 3 for 20 against TAMU, 5 for 50 against a UT defense that got dragged by 2023 florida my god

Nah. Drops weren't a big concern coming out of SC. They were focus drops, and that can be coached. He didn't have any games that year what he's looked like now. Come on, man.

Every receiver basically has off games. Even pros eat on certain days and not so much on others. It doesn't take that many yards per game to be a thousand yard receiver. Cherry picking and overanalyzing production is too easy to do for anyone. It's not like South Carolina was ripe with talent. Even Rattler wasn't the greatest of QBs (though I'd take him now). Y'all can sh¡t on his outstanding production, but numbers don't lie.

yeah sure but this is college where USC is going up against teams that are just playing the games to fund their women's golf team (furman). for a first round pick you need to do better than 1 reception for 20 yards against missouri, especially if you're a one year wonder. like if you're going to just play show up for one year you better be joe burrow.

Or the one with the higher upside, depending upon what you're looking for.

you're comparing a 6'1 receiver with limited college production to a hypothetical faster version of an all pro receiver YOU IMAGINED and saying XL provides upside
