Did Horn have a significant injury history in college? I didn't think he did but may be wrong

It wasn't what I would call significant but he did miss some time with injury in his college career.

It's not a comparison with Wilson. Wilson's college career largely looked like Horn's NFl career, minus the injury free last couple of years.

Which, I suppose that is another arrow in the quiver of the Horn stans that say he will be healthy forever once he leaves us.

There is no way to know. Also, even if that were the case, what would it matter? If he couldn't stay healthy for us but does elsewhere, what exactly are we supposed to do about it?

That and the fact he might be a one contract player given the age.

All that being said, I still would have preferred we gambled on him than someone like Wallace.

Wallace just so clearly is in the mold of a Fitterer/Rhule "I'm smarter than everyone else" selection.

At this point, stop being cute. Get players who can just fuging play.

I feel like this is something we have lost the ability to do as a franchise.

How many times has this team's front office skipped the consensus player for "their guy"? It's an embarrassing amount of times.

We just get cute at such bad times. Or we tend to draft on need rather than BPA. Most of the draft mistakes, we fuging make.

Our last draft is littered with that. Pick one, trade up to get a guy that is far from a sure thing. Moderately high ceiling but ultimately project player. Which....what was the rush on a guy like that? There are more guys in perhaps lower tiers. Not a major offense but just not super smart IMO.

Second pick, overdrafted for a very good football player but just not paying attention to positional value at all. Bigger needs and higher positional value available. Again, absolutely do not dislike the player but is the difference in Brooks and say a 3rd or 4th round RB big enough to warrant passing on a new starting center? A LB? EDGE?

Then promptly in the 3rd we make a major reach(IMO) on a high level athlete with questionable football abilities. So, basically a guy that immediately projects as a special teams player. Well, what value is that in the 3rd? In the first 1-3 rounds, you need to be looking at guys that have a shot at actually being in your two deep. When is this guy seeing the field, exactly? 2 years? 3? And that's probably best case. That's not a 3rd rounder, that's a 5th-7th rounder or a UDFA.

Yeah I hope I'm wrong about Wallace but I just don't see it.

I feel the same. I don't hate the guys they picked up, but the draft really fell perfectly to the Panthers.

Could have taken Ladd and Kool Aid in the 2nd, Payton in the 3rd, Ja'Tavion in the 4th, SVP and Trotter in the 5th, and Malik Washington in the 6th

That would have been a very exciting draft in my opinion.

There seems to be a lot of confusion between consensus value and your own personal preference.

He was a 3rd rounder among most respected analysts (Dane Brugler etc.). We drafted him in the third round. Hence it was not some kind of crazy reach. Very different from DJ Johnson last year.

I think it's the fact the we drafted another raw athletic project not necessarily where he was picked.

I’m going to remain hopeful and try to remember that this season probably isn’t why we took him.

And people can argue we had more pressing needs, we probably had reasons I can’t know for not moving on a couple of them (in the C department, just guessing they didn’t want a rookie out there this year).

Has Corbett ever played a down at center in his life? He was a LT in college and he's been an OG his entire NFL career. This kinda feels like the "Byron Bell can play LT because he's left handed" thing all over again. This guy is a bit undersized at guard so naturally he'll make a great center!

I hear that too but he is not new to NFL DL size and speed, and is maybe less likely to have his brain overloaded. All I got. But for whatever reason I sort of knew they would skip a C for something else.

Looks like he only did during the preseason for the Browns in 2018-2019 claiming it was for a total of 203 snaps which seems high? I think he was penciled in as backup behind Tretter. Center is definitely a big question mark… It looks like we have BC taking some reps at center too, which I’m not sure if he has played it before either?

    • If Canales comes back and Bryce doesn’t I would probably prefer to bring in 3 guys he likes from around the league or maybe outside a top ten pick and work through them, give that a shot. Because if we win a few more games we won’t be in the running for the top rated QB prospects anyway.
    • You mean tepper but yeah I agree about rhule   Baker is a top 3 potential qb that is play for mvp and he is doing it with a slew of injuries
    • There’s too many to reply to so I’ll just say a couple more things then I’m out: 1. It hasn’t been both ways and that’s the point. People saying stuff like “too bad Bryce Young didn’t make that tackle” is a direct result of the ridiculousness of blaming Bryce Young for literally everything. I remember one game day thread a poster unironically blamed Bryce Young for JT Sanders flipping onto his own neck and injuring himself. That post was pied. I literally just read a post blaming Bryce Young for XL dropping a ball on a would-be game winning drive last year. This past week, when Tmac bounced a ball off his hands for an interception, Bryce Young was immediately blamed in the game day thread. Alternatively, people who try to give credit to Bryce Young are immediately told that to credit Bryce Young is taking away credit from Rico Dowdle, OL, whoever, and that they shouldn’t be talking positively about Bryce Young because he doesn’t deserve any credit. 2. Yes, there have always been bad posters, the difference is that back then they were largely derided. Bryce Young’s rookie season, when many of us were simply pointing at the train wreck of the whole team and saying it was maybe a little tough to evaluate Bryce Young when he had no time to throw and slow receivers, and just saying basic stuff like “Bryce Young can physically throw the ball further than 20 yards.” There was an attempt made to limit all those opinions to a single thread, by a mod. This is like saying lunatics running the asylum is normal because there have always been lunatics in the asylum. The difference is before they were patients, now they’re in charge. 3. I know for a fact I am labeled as one of the “Bryce Stans” by many of the usual suspects, but the fact of the matter is they have no idea what my position is on Bryce Young because any attempts at nuanced discussion in the past have been so completely pointless due to never being able to get past the hyperbole. How can we have a serious conversation if you insist he is physically incapable of throwing a football 20 yards? Or if you insist that he somehow duped the Panthers into drafting him just by drinking water? Or if you insist that he should be able to succeed behind one of the worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen (rookie year, not now). And I’m not the only one, there are many who have left the huddle because of it and started a discord server, I’m just too lazy for another app.
