Huddle Draft Grade

  1. 1. What is your draft grade?

C+ or B- . The offensive players we got look good but I wasn't impressed at all with the defensive selections. We'll see I guess.

Defintely will re-evaluate the grade after their first year is over. I think particularly if we hit big on 2 of the of offensive players itll be a great draft from that alone.

Getting that R2 pick next year back was probably my favorite thing about this draft even above any of the players. That was a gaping hole in the 2025 draft that I was miffed about when we did the trade up for Bryce. That trade down by Morgan this weekend effectively stopped the bleeding from the Bryce trade up, draft capital wise.

I heard that on draft night. Lots of teams wanted into the bottom of the 1st. I suspect a few were after a receiver.

Crazy how far off the predictions were after the top 4. I knew i liked Pearsall more than Ladd and thought he'd be around for 39 but nope. Those two should have been flipped in the mocks the whole time. Keon vs XL will be interesting but that also comes down to qb play and scheme how they'll succeed

Right now Imma have to give it an A grade just solely because this is the 1st year in a long time that we had a plan going into the draft and we actually executed said plan and not panicked and made a dumb trade or a super bad pick. The goal was to get Bryce some weapons and get some depth on defense and I say we did just that. We can argue if they were the right picks later once, we see them play but at face value we did exactly what we set out to do and that alone is a massive improvement from years past under Rhule and Fitterer.

I knew all mocks would be blown up by the 5th or 6th pick. It happens every year. There were a lot of reaching for qb's. I think a few teams panicked and just starting grabbing a qb just to get one. I seriously doubt more than 1 or 2 will still be in the league in 3 years.

6 qb's was ridiculous and Rattler/Pratt could be better than 5 of them for all we know

We got 3 guys I really wanted at positions we really needed help with that can help us out over the next chunk of years.

We got a few more who could give us some positive production for a while in some areas.

I loved it. I think it was a success.

We weren't going to fix every area of need, but it all starts with a few and we got some. We got at least three starters in this group (maybe not immediate but it won't take long). And we got a few other who can be big time producers.

What we did this weekend sets us up to be better this year and makes it easier to get the team where it needs to be next year. We made the draft next year easier to address remaining needs.

I'm not going to micro-analyze this draft. I'm just looking at the big picture and  we made the team significantly better in a few big areas. I give them an A.

Honestly, Rounds 1-4 we're just what the doctor ordered. Rounds 5-7 I thought there we're better players available at the position we drafted but I feel these players drafted have a certain disposition that Morgan is looking for.

Plus getting a #2 next season really helps.

It's a B+ for me.

I can't wait to see them on the field.

If you add everything this off-season FA, trades, the draft and UDFAs to the mix I think our off-season is an A+.

One thing I'll say about this draft is we seem to have drafted particularly the 3 offensive players guys who have a specific personality trait. They aren't keep your head down types or timid they want to compete and they are confident in themselves. Pairing that with Canales I at least have some optimism about our offense going forward now.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
