  1. 1. What is your draft grade?

I like that we put some resources towards TE. Ian Thomas is a waste of payroll.

I'm not as enthusiastic about spending a high pick on a RB again. Seems like we are the only team in the NFL that consistently does that. Biakabatuka, Foster, Shelton, Williams, Stewart, McCaffery and now Brooks. The value just isn't there. McCaffery had a 1000/1000 season with us, and we won 5 games that season.

No OL being drafted is a bit of mystery.

Maybe it will work out. My confidence in this franchise is low.

We got 3 guys I really wanted at positions we really needed help with that can help us out over the next chunk of years.

We got a few more who could give us some positive production for a while in some areas.

I loved it. I think it was a success.

We weren't going to fix every area of need, but it all starts with a few and we got some. We got at least three starters in this group (maybe not immediate but it won't take long). And we got a few other who can be big time producers.

What we did this weekend sets us up to be better this year and makes it easier to get the team where it needs to be next year. We made the draft next year easier to address remaining needs.

I'm not going to micro-analyze this draft. I'm just looking at the big picture and  we made the team significantly better in a few big areas. I give them an A.

My knock is not so much who they took as it is how they went into the draft. They had decided the 1st 2 picks before the draft even started. That just erks me to be that focused on the player and not the position available after the pool has thinned out a little. Maybe I'm being to critical with this. I cannot seem to separate my professional mindset from the football fan.

They are all developmental prospects. None of them are nfl ready. It's just that some take longer than others to get ready.

Developmental meaning he has a lot of work to see the field and make any impact.

There are ample players every draft that don't need much in terms of development, they just need experience.

I too wish we would’ve taken that plug and play polished and ready mega talent at pick 72

Day one rotational players were available at 72. Instead we took a guy that likely needs a lot of work to see the field. Not a gamble I personally would have taken.

They all have to learn the system and adjust the the speed of the game. So yes some adjust faster than others. Some are forced to start and learn on the fly. It comes down to whether your team needs them to start because everyone else at the position is ass and the rookie is the best of the bunch. See Carolina Panthers.

he will be used rotationally if that’s the only standard you’re after and saying “likely needs a lot of work” kind of just feels like you’re assuming a broader point rather than evaluating the player

I'd give it somewhere between C and D minus.

Trading up into the first was dumb even if you count the 5th year option. And I don't think that's why they did it. They panicked that some other team was going to take their guy.

Taking the RB in the second round was dumb even if he becomes the best player for the Panthers from the draft. But this is the team that gave Miles Sanders a big contract, so it's par for the course.

The TE is my favorite pick of the draft. Hopefully, he pans out.

Taking the LB over a center in the third was another dumb move. The other picks were whatever.

Not addressing center at all in the draft was really stupid. And before anyone says the draft just didn't fall for them to take one, I call BS. They had their chances to take two of the top three centers and just said no thanks. Depending on AC and BC to man the center position will bite them in the ass. But, doing so also gives them an excuse if things go south this year, and that might be what they're counting on.

We need guys to play due to the roster we have. It's not good, that is for sure. I don't like project guys in the top 3 rounds. Never have and never will.

I am not assuming, I just don't believe he is a guy that ia going to be ready to contribute outside of maybe special teams. That's not a third round value, IMO. As I said earlier, high ceiling, incredibly low floor.

I'm trying to limit myself to "just a fan". Helps me enjoy it all more.

I have to constantly remind myself that I'm just an observer and have nothing to do with the success of the team. It gets extremely difficult sometimes.

Worth it remains to be seen. It does make it seems like there was some logic behind it, which makes me a little less perturbed.

Unlike others I feel the 5th year option is important because it gives you another year before having to address the contract.
