NBA Draft

this draft sucks ass and I find it hard to find any excitement in it whatsoever. the upside of whatever dude we wind up taking will probably be a decent 6th man, which we could use sure, but we need legit talent when we pick high like this. Miller last year kinda helps make up for this year sucking but still a bummer that after such a terrible season we have no good consolation prize.

I am excited about the new coaching staff and our young talent already on the roster though, just need to stay healthy (much easier said than done for melo and mark unfortunately)

So why is he only playing 22min a game?

Another red flag...

7'2 300 pounds this dude will have knee/foot issues down the line. Sorry he's not at the top of my list to draft.

22 minutes a game due to deep team and coming off a summer injury.  Not my favorite pick for the Hornets but I do like his potential.

Stephon Castle or Zaccharie Risacher.

Not really a good draft tbh those are just the 2 I prefer.

Both would be nice to get but Zach will be long gone and Castle doesn’t want to be here.

Personally I have moved to Buzelis.  Once he bulks up and polishes his game he has great upside.  He shot bad in the G League last year but that wasn’t reflective of how he shot in high school.  He is 19 and extremely skilled.  Very good athlete as well.  Do want.

I think Ron Holland is another guy with crazy upside.  His defensive game is awesome.  Would like him too

I'm starting to favor two prospects. Dalton and Dillingham. Robert could be guard insurance for Melo when he misses time, play alongside Melo and Miller and be a leader of the second team. Dalton could be scorer at the perimeter and connect the dots between Miller and Melo at SG. We need to score more.

I think I’d go Knect unless the French guy falls

I live in Knoxville so I’ve seen a lot of Knect and I could get behind that pick. He is a scoring machine and was the best player on the court more times than not by a decent margin.

He can flat out score the ball, but he will be a defensive liability for sure.

I'm fine with Knecht we need more offense tbh.

    • MoRon sucks. We should have been a perennial contender with Cam and Luke in their primes, instead we wasted those generational talents on Ron and Shula.
    • Don't look now, but a 3-game win streak, including 2 on the road in back-to-back games. The Canes haven't won 3 straight since the middle of November, over 2 months ago.  Canes held Dallas to 23 SOG, with a lot of those coming in a late game flurry. Canes have had some difficulty keeping SOG down to where we're used to seeing them. The Dallas game was reminiscent of the defense we saw early in the season- standing teams up at the blue line and making zone entry a real pain in the pads.
    • Agreed with a lot of this. Couple thoughts, especially towards the OL/future cap things... First, I hope Bryce is good enough to command being paid a Top 5 QB salary. Great news for us if so. But as of now, I think he'd be in that mid-tier range, so that $60 gets cut to 30-40. Baker to Stafford range. Obviously the cap will go up and $60 might be the new mid-tier, but either way I think we're fine here. He either continues to ascend and gets paid Top 5 money because he's that good and thank God. Or, he shows he's Baker level, gets a competitive offer that's outside the Top 10, and we're "saving" money (but also paying someone who may not be the "guy" in that scenario).  The OL is the biggest thing going forward IMO. You're 100% right here about the need for an OL, paying them, % of the cap, etc. Which is why in the next couple of drafts, we HAVE to absolutely nail a couple OL picks. We can't realistically tie up that much money in our OL. So we better turn into the Cowboys the late 2010s and constantly have a revolving cycle of a couple highly paid pieces, with drafted guys who step up and take their place once we have to move on. One highly paid OT, one highly paid OG, and then find rookie deals or cheaper vets that fit well.  Point being, we're teetering on the edge of a few foundational pieces being here now. IF, and history isn't on our side here, we can nail the next couple of drafts...we're in a good spot when it comes to the cap and future. If we don't find a couple of defensive cornerstones and find reliable OL depth that can take over for Hunt/Moton/Lewis as they age or contracts balloon...that's when we're right back in hell IMO. No pressure, Dan.
