well who would the panthers choose if they did trade up?

i'd say they'd be looking at the following:

mccoy DT

suh DT

derrick morgan DE

dan williams NT

jason piere-paul DE

dez bryant WR

Sean Witherspoon LB

Suh and McCoy will be gone in the first 6 picks at least. it wouldnt be a very very very very very...very bad move if we did this, then traded down a few spots to a team like the Giants if they want to be sure that they can get Rolando McClain.

what else could we get out of that?(btw... I hate the idea of trading our 1st year after year.)

The recent cuts have been as much about cutting cost as they have about cutting aging players. Why would the front office want to sign on a top-ten rookie, considering the salary those players bring? Especially with a lockout on the horizon.

:iamwithstupid: Then again if there is no Football in 2011 there will still be a draft. Might make since to get a good player now then wait till he gets drafted and cant play.

I would be fine with trading our 2nd and next years 1st for the number 8.

Think about this. Getting the 8 then trading back (someone is going to be real tempting for other teams there I bet) to mid 1st picking up a 2nd. Then we could either pick there or maybe trade for 2 2nds.

Either way if you can trade back and still have a 2nd then all you really did is trade a 1st straight up for a 1st. And we always finish at least in the middle of the pack so you know it wouldn't be any higher then 13-14.

I was just thinking earlier, remember when Fox was hired here and asked questions about his time and quick departure from Oakland and he declined to comment on it? I assumed that the general feeling there is that there was some kind of problem and I feel like Fox still holds a grudge or has beef with the organization.

And we all know Davis is old as dirt, but the guy doesn't forget, and he seems very vindictive... I really don't think we have any chance of being this mystery team...

Besides, the Raiders will be drafting Armanti Edwards with #8.

    • I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.
    • Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.
    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
