I think the end goal is to have “A” Super Bowl in Charlotte and pray it doesn’t rain. Roof is preferred but not the end all be all.

Someone pointed out how Jacksonville got their Super Bowl in 2005. Tampa has hosted many with no roof and it’s in 3pm rain Florida.

Tampa averages 74/54 in February with 4 days of rain.  Charlotte averages 54/34 in February with 7 days of rain.  There's a big difference, Charlotte needs a dome to get a Superbowl.

There was snow in NYC, a tropical storm in 2010 in Miami…they can figure it out down the road.

NYC was an outlier due to 9/11, plus it's NYC something Charlotte could never be.  I have been to games at night in the winter in Charlotte, it is fine for hard-core football fans especially fans of the home team, but it's not suitable to the type of fan that goes to a Superbowl

Charlotte is not a Super Bowl destination. Stop aiming for unattainable goals.

and why you’re at it stop moaning about our owner wanting tax dollars to upgrade an old stadium. It’s not the first or the 100th time this has happened. It’s how it works. If you want to complain then complain about the amount being too much or too little. Or complain and the roof. Complain about something that actually makes sense.

These statements don’t really go together.

The council is a democratic process. They are elected and people could have come and voiced their opposition.

If people don’t want Tepper to get this money, they wouldn’t punish the council for voting against it.

He’s getting the money because the people who actually do vote want the team to stay in charlotte.

If the council received 10000 calls voicing opposition, they would change their tune.

But regular voters don’t really care….at least not enough to send an email.

Its a shame, but it’s how it is right now.

Yeah before the elections most of the council members said they would give money to build a new stadium. The observer and other journalists usually ask them boilerplate questions like that to all of them. Only one person I liked said they would vote no. So it was pretty much settled even before the election.

9/11 a decade later? Get a better argument. It’s gonna be cold but doesn’t affect the pitch. It was miserable for everything outside the game in Minnesota a few years ago but it’s about what the city can pitch.

I think he’s complaining about people complaining.

I personally want to complain about people telling me what I should or shouldn’t complain about.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
