Dante Wesley picked up by Lions

The Detroit Lions have added some depth on defense and special teams by bringing in a veteran cornerback.

Tim Twentyman of the Detroit News reports that the Lions have agreed on a two-year deal with free agent cornerback Dante Wesley. He'll sign his contract and report to the offseason workout program on Monday.

The 30-year-old Wesley has been in the NFL for eight seasons, including seven with the Panthers. In Carolina he played for assistant coach Danny Crossman, who is now the Lions' special teams coordinator.

Best of luck to him.

good for him...i suppose. it's still the lions but at least he'll have a job. wouldn't exactly say his time with the panthers has been top notch but last year he did well on STs and on defense.

that said, i'm happy with the way STs is shaping up. looks like we improved there so i'm not too bothered by his moving on and our lack of interest in pursuing him.

Probably only Panther going to a team that will be worse than the Panthers in 2010-2011

Dude has 1000 some odd posts!! Have they ALL been this retarded?

It's cool Wesley followed Crossman to Detroit and wish them luck making the Lions ST's look like they belong in the NFL. I am a Lions fan from way back before the Panther's came into being so i will enjoy watching Dante smacking folks in the mouth in the NFC North.

Peppers went to Bears who will do worse...

Jake to Browns who will do worse....

Wesley to Lions who will do worse...

Diggs to the Rams who will do worse...

Hoover to _____ who will do worse...

Lewis to patriots who might be better but more close to equal.

Lloyd is really the only member who went to a better (but much older) team that is in win mode. (Vikings), but he is only a kicker who knows he might be used for FGs there.

    • Is that what I said? Or is that just what you want to argue against? Let's take a look at his "game winning drives" last year. First up, the 2-7 Saints... Nice 26 yards completion going 1-4 for 26 yards with Chuba scoring on the ground from 16 yards out getting helped by 22 yards in penalties. Next up, the 2-8 Giants... Literally nothing. We recovered a fumble already in FG range. Next up, the Cardinals... Again, literally nothing. Two plays, 2 20+ yard runs by Chuba. But Bryce gets another "GWD" on the stat sheet. Finally against the Falcons we have what most fans would consider a legit game winning drive...
    • That probably is a part of it but I really think the QB rule changes and move away from violence and physicality for ball carriers was the biggest change the NFL had ever gone through and impacted the game immensely. Even more so than the Mel Blount. I was watching the 2008 AFC championship game the other day and it’s a completely different sport.
    • Okay, this is just silly. You're looking at the whole-game rushing yards column my man.
