At least two more underthrown balls in those tweets, though I'm taking the Woods breakup per the words since no video. The underthrow to Johnson on the cross was rough and the TMJ ball to the corner looked like he had to slow up at the end as well. Bryce needs to start hitting these with the defense on the field.

IDK why people are freaking out about Corbett taking a day off. He's an oft injured dude coming off a serious injury.

And, TBH, given that history we better get a really good idea who center #2 is.

No, that would be our only still NFL caliber WR, Johnson. We will suffer the most if that is a consistent problem.

No Johnson works a lot of the area’s Bryce is able to get the ball to. Mingo is more a deep threat than Johnson. Mingo’s numbers suffered big time last year due to Young’s arm. Johnson will still get his even if deep shots are limited

I've followed this team since 2003 and what I've picked up along the way is that what the team shows during training camp and pre-season is indicative of their performance during the season. From what I'm seeing, the outlook for this year is not so good and a huge reason for that is QB1.

Canales' presser

• Notes to start: Great bounce back day. Challenging practice in pads last time, pushing the groups with reps. Thinks the group responded from a focus standpoint but he's still looking for consistency and high energy. Push that bar, stack great days which they know they'll need during the season when you get Wednesday + Thursdays to stack days. XL's MRI revealed no fractures. Fantastic news, so he's day-to-day. Not expected to play on Thursday out of an abundance of caution. Nothing triggered it, was just starting to heat up on him and the training staff ID'd it.
• TMJ got the wind knocked out of him on the collision. Will continue to keep an eye on him.
• Valuable for all of the guys to get reps not just the first stringers for the evaluation process. Wants to see the depth rotate in with the 1s. Part of the "next man up" mentality.
• Going to get through a hard practice tomorrow to really evaluate who will be available for Thursday. They're going to decide on depth chart and play time tomorrow night.
• Going back and forth on having Bryce play. There's value to playing with Corbett, but also counting on the other guys. Wrestling with that.
• Pads tomorrow.
• DL was running gassers after they shortened practice. They're asking players to go out there and still get it when they cut early. Vets are calling out their own conditioning and getting extra work.
• Going to look at the HoF Game to look more at the new kickoff rules and how their scheme fits.
• Seeing consistency from Xavier Woods. He's communicating. Fuller + Scott also mentioned as guys that have been in the system and are actively communicating. He's moving around, looking explosive, and taking his shot on plays.
• WR room looks great. Talked up the guys already here and how they're doing. Solid room competition-wise.
• CB Lamar Jackson has been getting more reps and making plays. He's put enough out there that they want to see it show up on game film. Love the way he's finishing on the ball.
• Asked about ISM and doesn't want to reveal depth chart stuff yet, but he's a great returner. That type of stuff gives guys an edge by showing what they can do for the team. He's given himself a great shot.
• Asked how he's determining Bryce's mastery of the offense. It's functioning: pre-snap mechanics of getting them up to the line, getting themt ot he right plays in the run game, in the pass game it's about getting it to the first open guy within the time they want, and when the pocket breaks apart extending plays. He's doing a great job of getting the group polished but we're not there yet. Wants the first group especially to function like a fine tuned machine which we're not at yet. Loves the execution part of the concepts.
• Looking for guys on vet days to communicate and connect with the other players, whether it be a dialogue with Bryce on the run game (was specifically asked about Corbett having the day off and what Canales wants to see).
• Coaching staff has to set the foundation and lay the standards out. "This is what we're looking for." The players have to be the ones out there talking to each other, bring each other together, etc. Coaches can help refocus but it comes down to them to execute in all situations on gameday. Important for them to take that ownership. The standard should be, "This is how we practice, this is how we play," and hold themselves accountable.
• Asked if he gets upset despite positivity. Absolutely, especially about low effort and low regard for the ball (not securing on offense or trying to punch out on defense). His mindset is, "How good can we become?" He's not a happy, go-lucky guy that sits back. When they're short of the standard it bothers him because he knows what they can look like. Upset Dave yells a little bit. Had a couple of moments yesterday. Bounces back quickly and has his reminders of where they're at in regards to this training camp. As the info piles up, so do the plays as they mix in. Has to have grace with himself and this team.
• Would love to continue to bring in other players and challenge their roster (when asked about OLB).
• Called out Traore getting reps against Clowney as well as Mays taking snaps at center ("He looks great.") Chandler got in and showed what he can do as a powerful guy with athleticism while Lewis was out. As we get closer and closer to the end of the preseason, there will be important decisions to make based of the effort they're putting out.
• Doesn't have any numbers in mind for catches, but Johnson is the starting point for the pass game. If defenses know you're going towards a certain player, they adjust their playcalling which the team can take advantage of. Gotta have focal points for the run game and drop back passing so that it opens up other aspects of the game. Diontae still has a ways to go with what they're trying to do, but he's making himself available and taking those in-between windows to talk to Bryce and get on the same page.
