How did nobody catch this before drafting him?

"I was kind of away from football for the most part, just living every other aspect of my life. Just hanging out, being around family, being around friends, getting back to a routine that doesn't revolve as much around football. For me, it was still being able to just enjoy and work out, but the Xs and Os actual football part, kind of stepping away from it."

Go ahead and defend that. I'm a fugkin idiot. Reading comprehension was never my specialty.

He does later mention his morning workouts and there are videos of him working out with ISM and later TMJ with Mingo. It was a dumb quote/comment for him to make and doesn’t help his case but he definitely worked out over the offseason. At the end of the day it didn’t really matter.

He even says decompress lol.  Summer of Bryce 100%

The most consequential summer of his life to this point and he's like "meh time to chill".

If that's how he wants to live his life hey all the best. That's not your franchise guy though. Never will be.

Could be and I know that people will scoff at this very loose comparison, but it's kind of like The Golden Calf of Bristol (lol Teb0w). Great college QB whose game just didn't translate to the pros. Happens a lot, but doesn't always get caught in time.

Different style of play, but that’s essentially what it looks like. Windows are smaller, guys are faster. If he were 6’3 maybe he can overcome this situation. What you’re going to see from Andy is simply making the plays that are there to be made. Something Bryce hasn’t been able to do.

Your obsession and hatred for this young man is something you should honestly be ashamed of. You’re grown ass man upset because a young athlete didn’t get you your feel good on Sundays. Seek help, this poo is unhealthy. Respectfully.

You hear one quote and think you know how this young man spends his time. If you want to criticize his play on the field have at it. But don’t start criticizing his character or work ethic. You don’t become the top prospect in high school with a million in NIL before you ever touch a college field by not putting the work in. And then backing that poo up with a Heisman trophy in the SEC. He deserved to be the #1 overall pick. He earned that poo and you nor any other hater can take that poo from him.

He hasn’t worked out in the NFL thus far, cool. But all that other noise you talking it’s just hate brother.

AceBoogie we don't agree and that's fine. All this other talk about what you perceive to be "hatred" is just you not being able to handle said difference of opinion.

Yeah, this is a pretty irrelevant thing, IMO. I really could care less what he was working on. It does show he doesn't seem to have much passion for the sport. At some level, I think that is a core issue. Not that it would make him more talented but if you don't live, eat and breathe football, it's going to be a tough to excel in this league. Especially without elite talent.

There weren't many people I grew up with who were more passionate and more competitive than I was.

But, I had a couple of issues that led to my not playing in college and beyond. 1) I grew to be 5-7; 2) I'm a good athlete but not a great athlete. Point: No matter how much I cared, my size and talent level were only going to take me so far. So, I had to find another dream. That's the story for most of us. We have to find another dream. It isn't the end of the world.

Concerning Bryce Young, I posted this last January. I don't think I saw one play last year from him where I said "Wow." As a rookie, I wasn't expecting miracles from him. But...as the number 1 pick, I did expect some Wow moments. MOST number 1 picks will have some Wow moments as a rookie. I just didn't see any from him.

I remember when people here went off on Cam when they found out he wasn’t always in the weight room or practicing. People need something to get pissed about.

I don't remember that, but let's say your right

Cam called guys out his rookie season for just going through the motions and being happy to be there, Cam singlehandedly changed our culture to expect bigger horizions , so if he did want to take some time off , he more than earned it

Bryce however earned squat, he should have spent all off-season trying to improve, if he cared about, but by him saying he did nothing but chill means he is content just showing up losing and going home, he probably wouldn't practice if it was optional

Well I will tell you right now that as I remember he went back to college his first offseason as a pro.

I characterized it as basically going back to play big man on campus and chase skirts and have fun. He could have gone back and gotten a degree like, after he perfected football.

I just wanted to see him work on it like we all want to see Bryce work on it. That is exclusive of previous performance, that has no bearing on things because anyone can get better. The best to the worst.

You couldn't ask for that and not be called names, the same as you couldn't doubt Bryce before he proved what he really was.

    • Bryce among the 7 players Mark Ross of NFL.com guarantees will get better this season. Today, I am identifying seven players who I guarantee will improve on their 2024 output in the 2025 season. Young took tremendous strides in 2024 after returning to the starting lineup in Week 8 following his benching. He looked far more comfortable in his return and produced with consistency, as he threw for 2,104 yards with 15 TDs and six INTs in the final 10 contests. Most important perhaps is Young's confidence grew immensely down the stretch, leading Carolina to either a game-tying or game-winning drive in six of those games. Now he enters his second season in Dave Canales' system with his best supporting cast to date. The Panthers drafted wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan eighth overall to pair with Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette, who I also believe is poised for a breakout campaign this fall. The 18th-ranked rushing attack from a year ago added Rico Dowdle to complement Chuba Hubbard, giving the team a pair of 1,000-yard rushers. The Panthers have taken the necessary steps to ensure Young's third season will be the best of his career, and now it's up to him to not only continue to grow as a player but prove why he was worthy of being taken No. 1 overall in 2023. I believe that's what he will do. https://www.nfl.com/news/which-nfl-players-will-improve-in-2025-c-j-stroud-deebo-samuel-among-guaranteed-risers
    • While it's fair to question how impactful a player's relationship with a coach is (especially if someone has questions regarding said coach), it's important to also evaluate the difference between the players here. Jordan Fuller was pick #199 in the 6th round while Justin Simmons was #98 in the 3rd round. Jordan Fuller might have gotten a Super Bowl ring while he was with the Rams, but he got it while on the IR. Justin Simmons, on the other hand, is a x2 Pro-Bowler (2020, 2023), x4 second-team All-Pro (2019, 2021 - 2023), and was the NFL co-leader in INTs (2022). Simmons has also fallen off in the last couple of seasons though, grade-wise. He very well might not be that same player, which could be why the Falcons have elected to replace him with Fuller. As far as getting the best out of what he has, asking him to produce with a starting DL of A'Shawn Robinson (63.56% of the defense's snaps), LaBryan Ray (51.48%), and Shy Tuttle (50.08%) isn't reasonable. Wonnum only played in 8 games, but had the second most % of snaps (37.27%) at EDGE behind Clowney (53.53%). The second-string DL based on snap % was... and don't read this if you just ate... Charles Harris (34.48%), DeShawn Williams (27.67%), and Nick Thurman (19.7%). The second-string EDGEs based on snap count would be DJ Johnson (32.27%) and Cam Gill (18.14%). With the investments made in the run defense this season though, especially on the defensive line, it's more than fair to demand a complete turn around from last season.
