He wouldn't be starting if Shaq and Josey weren't out with injuries. You are expecting too much from a 3rd round rookie that was forced to start 5 games into his first season.

Well yeah. The hope was he would be worked in and be able to play if needed, etc. I know it is ahead of schedule for the green dot hat.

One reason our d is so bad though is the middle guys weren't really a strength to start with and they both went at the same time.

I mean if he’s cheap and wants to stay I guess resign him, but I’m fully in the don’t draft RBs high and don’t give them big second contracts camp. Shelf life is so short for RBs and you can literally find serviceable backs in late rounds and FA for dirt cheap

A.  Why in the fug would he resign here

B  quit giving rbs 2nd contracts

This isn't hard

I don't think he'll command that much money.  If we can get him for a couple million a year and have this position locked up for the next several years, why wouldn't we do this.

Anyone other than a rookie.

Jewell looks like he is healthy again.  He would make sense.  He played under Evero for several years in Denver so he should be familiar with it.  It will also help Wallace to have a veteran like him playing beside him.

you are missing the point, if he is only going to cost 2 million why in the fug would he sign here?

No, I'm not missing the point.  Players almost always have a preference for the team that drafted them as long as the money is comparable.

Players do not give discounts as long as they can do better elsewhere. That's a fan idea that never happens.

Agree and my comment was why would he leave a sure thing if the money is comparable.  I don't think there will be a many teams that won't to pay him a big contract but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

    • We were bad for years before Bryce Young and it wasn’t like this. I didn’t like the Rhule hire, but I didn’t drag the board down every chance I got. I didn’t like letting Cam go and bringing in Teddy, but I didn’t make it my mission in life to make sure everybody who disagreed with me was berated into submission.
    • it's pretty simple IMO.  The Tepper Panthers are the most unsuccessful professional sports team in all of sports.  The problem isn't the posters here have changed ( I still content people falsely romanticize the old days).  The product dictates the atmosphere more than anything.  In reality, the daily convos about THE worst team in all of pro sports on a fanatics site....is going to feature harsh and critical convo.  Only one entity can actually change that.  It's the Carolina Panthers football team.  if you are the most unsuccessful professional sports teams (Tepper's Panthers are that).....and a place like this isn't filled with very critical thoughts? Well, you probably don't actually have a real fanbase IMO.
    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
