I think Bryce looked better since he's been back.  But I don't have much faith in him.  He needs to be consistently better.  If he finishes the season improving game after game, then we're in a good spot. If he doesn't, then we need to move on.

If Young continues to improve what is the plan for Dalton ?   Do we extend him or bring in a younger backup veteran QB .  Maybe draft a lower round QB to sit and learn .  What do you think ?

I read a report/article yesterday mentioning tyrod taylor as a possible dalton replacement. They mentioned tyrod's play style being closer to bryce's than dalton's is. It was mentioned more as another mentor to bryce situation rather than adding tyrod for competition.

Random.....but I talked to a close friend of mine who went to the chiefs game, he was sitting behind the endzone with his mother. I asked him what he thought in general, i  didn't even list names or anything. He said they are gonna get tricked into keeping bryce. Get a vet qb and draft hunter or DE.

I'm going to cheer for any scenario that puts the Panthers back into competitive shape, playoffs shape and long-term viability.

If Bryce proves to be that road, then I'll happily ride along it and admit how wrong I was. And right now, we're seeing some green shoots that could grow into something pretty cool. Would love to see that happen.

If not, well, we're back at the start of a road we've been down before many times before. And it's gonna suck for a little while at least.

I think we look at both.  I wouldn't mind resigning Dalton for a deal.  He would know the offense and there is no pressure to see what we have in him. Then I wouldn't mind finding a low round rookie with potential.

Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.

If he is not the answer why would anyone give up anything to get him from us?

Because there still seems an expert/media class who believe he can be the guy. Lots on NFL talking heads want to be correct about BY.

And how many of those talking heads are responsible for making trade offers?

 

He is either trash and we just need to toss him on the junk heap and move on or he has value to an NFL team and has a role to play here.

My thought is Bryce needs a great cast around him. He's always been surrounded by 4 and 5 star recruits and Alabama could have as many as they could recruit. Unfortunately in the NFL there's this little thing called a salary cap and we can't keep that kind of talent around him unless we're sacrificing somewhere else or we have near perfect draft classes. 

My biggest fear is he's going to be just good enough to get to year 4 and we're going to need to pay him 40m per season and the talent pool around him is going to suffer and then we'll be back to mediocre except on a 200m 5 year contract.

Hard to say how many would be interested in a trade. You may be right he has value to add to an NFL team. That's doesn't mean he has value as a franchise QB.
