Has this game changed feelings about Young?

Cam Newton looked like a man amongst boys even when our defense was poo in 2011.

But it needs to be said that the current defense is not as bad as some people are making it out to be. They have put this offense in position to win. But even if we did have a "great" defense it would still be tough to overcome 4 turnovers. That's what this discussion has been about.

The defense blew against Dallas, but they're playing beyond their talent level overall. We had injuries to the worst possible players to have injuries on D because we were so thin at their positions.

But it's so hard to overcome an inept offense...

what would be easier get a better Qb or continue trying to build an all pro oLine at every position & all pro WR corps  along with Chuba Hubbard's big well deserved contract in order for Bryce Young to be maybe just  one day finally becaome a decent Qb  ?

no  just go get a freaking  better Qb or at least try  & move the freak on out of this madness.because another thing if you continue to do this you will also never have any money to spend on defense

No. He's not a franchise QB, but he's not the worst QB of all time like we feared in September. He was on a heater for a while and he had a bad game in a game I said all week was a horrible matchup for this team. If you don't give up >200 yards rushing and fail miserably on third downs, you can probably overcome 2-3 of his turnovers. But the whole team sucked other than Coker. Young would've needed to have his best game ever to win when the defense is this decimated and awful.

Just curious why you thought this was a bad matchup. The Cowboys are not good

You are right

perfection is required for Young to succeed as ive said but you framed it better

ill add to it, a simplified game plan, reduced playbook,  to help with his size and arm strength.

No such thing as a qb sneak anymore   The box gets stacked as there is little chance of a successful deep ball so stop the run, stop the offense

Ive read that the lack of arm strength has to do with his setup and foot work.  I dont care the reason anymore

i just don't ever see anything with him than his  floor is his ceiling   I want to be wrong but im not

One other note, Chuba’s numbers have declined since the Giants game…better defenses and Young’s arm is no challenge to those defenses so box stacked

Whatever they are in totality the cowboys are beat up all to hell on both sides of the ball and even that was too much for lil Bryce to overcome.

Bryce defenders have to hype up every other team and trash every other part of the panthers just because of the situation they’ve put themselves in.

the Dallas game definitely quelled the hype.

his biggest issue will always be his size, and that shows when he gets sacked. he's simply not big or strong enough to protect the ball. even in the KC game, he fumbled it on a basic sack and thank god icky landed on it. INT's are going to happen, most fans don't understand that tipped balls and wrong routes account for most interceptions. but the wet-bar-of-soap type fumbles upon contact are a huge reg flag.

the common theme with players like Darnold and Mayfield who previously played for us and are now excelling makes me want to practice patience more when it comes to the QB position. I think Bryce bought himself another season, perhaps with more weapons. I do like the idea of adding a QB whether that's a FA or mid round rookie.

if the same mistakes occur next season and we see no further growth or most importantly, wins, then it will be time to move on.

just a quick reminder though, football is not an individual sport. QB is just one position, albeit the most important.

As dumb as it probably sounds, we should have won that game.  Defense was bad but Bryce should have been better.  Pass rush isn't a good enough excuse.

Last year the Commanders OL gave up 65 sacks same as us. Sam Howell who is now holding a clipboard for another team had the 12th most passing yards through all that and Ron Rivera as his head coach.

Now Bryce Young has an OL that has given up 28 sacks amongst the lowest in the NFL this season and he is still 31st in passing yards. And that's considered an "improvement".

The excuses are beyond stale.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
