Ladd has arguably been the best rookie receiver this season. He was drafted in the second round.

fug, when was Parsons drafted, and who did we pick? Don't tell me that four or five draft spots is a reason to fail at drafting.

Horn at 8, Parsons 12

People need to stop pointing to the Parsons pick as an example of a stud player being drafted outside the Top 10.

Parsons the draft prospect is NOT the player Parsons is today.

Going into the draft he was a MLB, not an edge rusher.  He got thrust into that role as a rookie because of all their injuries and he was so good at it that they changed up their plans for him.

Even the Cowboys missed on that projection of him or else they'd have just made him an edge rusher from the start, so people need to stop pointing to him as one example, because in reality, every single team in the league missed on that evaluation of him.

Looks like we stayed at #7 with the Jets moving ahead of us.

Yep. fuging sucks. I have no idea how they did that. We had a decent lead on them a few weeks ago. We need some more luck. Cleveland looks like they’re tanking. That Robinson kid sucks and they won’t put in Winston. If the Dolphins lost, they could sit a bunch of guys next week against the Jets.

I guess if the Dolphins win, the Jets SOS could jump a bit and even more if the Dolphins beat them next week.

That Arizona win was fun but man, we actually had a legit shot at the top pick and maybe fleecing the Giants like we got fleeced by the Bears.

Perhaps, but there were more than a few who said that his potential was super high as an MLB. It was really the off-field questions that held him back a little bit.

But, even if I concede that you're 100 percent right, the more KISS approach would've been to not overthink it and pick Surtain.

Why? I can name 3 other players arguably as good or better than Horn in that draft. The point is, there’s no reason to lose sleep over picking 4 vs 7 unless there’s a generational guy which there isn’t. We have the same shot of screwing up 4 and we do 7, just whatever happens happens. BPA at one of our biggest needs

    • I need to actually do a full analysis but I think the issue was more that we'd rarely have top-to-bottom awesome drafts but we'd frequently have drafts where only 2-3 players panned out, but the 1st is a Pro Bowler and the other two solid starters or backups. We rarely had drafts where only 1 player was good, and we never had absolute useless drafts. At the very least we always had one really, really good guy. The worst was probably 2005 where we got Thomas Davis (Hall of Honor-quality player) and Geoff Hangartener. Evan Mathis was good, but only after he left.
    • Hurney wasn’t good with contracts but I think he was probably above average at drafting.  Not saying he was great.  Just that most draft classes are worthless.
    • Ehh, teams earlier this season double and tripled teamed him with decent success. The reason he beasted out so much with Miami was for some reason they did not much at all. Bad call on their part. But that is his purpose. If he is eating up people that is huge, and theoretically should give others the ability to make a play. But his surrounding cast to do that isn’t great. Brown is something OCs have to put a lot of time to plan for.
