Also meanwhile the Kenny Pickett lead Eagles just dropped 41 points on the Cowboys.   The same Cowboys that throttled us.  I don't want to hear crap about our 'close losses' to good teams anymore.  People can't crow about how we ALMOST beat the Eagles and Chiefs then ignore the blowouts we suffer while teams that crush us get floor wiped by backup QBs, a bad one at that in the case of Pickett.

Yeah, it’s the Drew Lock, Kenny Pickett, etc types that really leave you with doubt.  With enough attempts, most QBs give some really good games.  Bryce despite all his starts….his really good games are just decent game management.   He never really shows any indication of a high ceiling play if you catch him on a good day.

but then you get the Drew Lock type games.  He isn’t in a great situation.  Weak team and they don’t even want to play him….

and even he can light it up on a random Sunday

His oline is ordinary his weapons are not pretty ideal situation for a rookie QB if they can sure up the oline and grab a RB

It’s easy for a backup to look good for a game or two when there’s no film on them running that particular offense. Or sometimes a good game just happens. I‘m sure we all remember the beginning of Kyle Allen and Matt Moore. Everyone in the NFL is capable for the most part, even backup QBs. The difference is there’s no way they can sustain it over the course of a season, which is why they’re backups. There was growth in those games we played and almost won.

Actual growth or just not sucking?  There is a distinction.  Being better than awful I guess is growth.  I consider growth actually beating good teams once in a while and taking care of business of bad teams routinely.  Almost beating a good team and losing to bad teams save three (even then barely) still doesn't do it for me. At this growth rate we might have a winning season in 2027....maybe.

Bryce has 27 starts and counting….never hit 300 yards passing.   Never hit a 3 TD pass day.

His pass production is like that of a running QBs minus all the ground production that compliments it.

he just never has shown a glimpse of much at all.  We are now celebrating functional.  Hope he continues to improve as he will be the guy next year…..but you really have to keep the expectations down as he just doesn’t seem to have much of a ceiling at this level

It remains to be seen. I’ve witnessed enough to at least be optimistic but we have to do something about the defense in the offseason. If that gets fixed I think we have a shot to at least contend in the division next year barring key injuries.

They're so goofy with some of these takes. They don't realize what they're even saying. Eagles have Smith and AJ, not to mention the threat of Barkley (2000 yards on the season with another game to go).

I didn't pay alot of attention to that game but I'm sure those guys bailed their QB out most of the game.

I did watch the Giants though. Lock's first TD was like a 40 yards screen to Nabers. His second was a 10 yards pass to Slayton and he broke it for like 40 yards. His third TD came after Nabers caught the same underthrown deep ball that some are saying was impossible for our 1st round receiver to come back and catch. That put them inside the 10 yard line for an easy throw to a wide open receiver. His 4th was a 5 yards pass to Nabers that he broke for like 50 up the side line. Meanwhile Carolina receivers going down where they catch the ball.

You just keep going on and on about Bryce as if he isn't going to be the QB for the foreseeable future. Aint no help walking in to the locker room. This is the dinner we have

Hell Nick Foles won a Super Bowl. So did Jeff Hostetler and Brad Johnson. And I would guess it had a lot more to do with the team surrounding them than it did all-world QB play.

Literally in the post you quoted it states I hope he continues to improve as he will be the dude next year.

I’m just saying he likely is close to hitting his head on the ceiling so might as well be realistic in how we talk going forward.  Going to need a lot of defense to make this team worth watching.  We need to go all in on D

Yeah, and I'm saying you complain week after week, and nothing is going to change. What do you want us to say?

I want Bryce to either fail or play great. which ever will make you stop.

I'm sure that if you put Young on the Eagles he could have produced the same results or better.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
