Another former NFL QB breaks down Bryce Young's game vs. ATL

The big take away I got from Dave's post game interview was how he was saying the playbook is now wide open.

We all know this but... Sounds like early in the year Dave was very cautious about what he called as he was not confident in BY and what he could execute.

Now Dave has that confidence. Im excited to see what he does next year.

I think something that's really underrated is Bryce's threat as a runner. He is not a designed QB runner like Cam, Lamar, or Hurts but he absolutely makes it hard for the defense to defend when he scrambles. If you watch his highlights when the line breaks down, he improvises on a scramble drill and will find receivers downfield or run for a first down. He plays very similarly to Mahomes from a dual threat standpoint. That scramble with a flip pass to Coker in OT reminded me of Mahomes. I wouldn't be surprised if Bryce puts up 8-10 rushing TDs next year if he keeps this up.

Bryce doesn’t scramble to run, he scrambles to throw.  His eyes stay down field looking for a receiver.  That will keep defenders away from him opening running lanes for modest gains.  The pump fake will serve him well.

The play calling was awesome that game seemed like every play had multiple players open by several yards.   Young did a great job of recognizing and delivering the ball.

Playcalling on offense was exceptional. Falcons got outcoached. Receivers were near perfect with good hands and several athletic plays with the ball in the air. Thielen and Coker were extremely precise. Running game was consistent with some very good blocking. Young had a good day with several single reads thrown to a point and hot passes for the receivers to make plays. Young only needed to complete a handful of passes beyond his first read.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
