You’d take Bryce Young over Justin Herbert then, right? Because Justin Herbert put up big numbers in the regular season and folded historically in the Wild Card round. Since, @frankw, that apparently makes a player trash — or, at least worthy of quoting me every negative play — @frankw, tell us you’d rather have Bryce Young than Justin Herbert. Because that’s following the logic you’ve applied to this discussion, @frankw.

Nobody forced you to randomly call people out for rightfully criticizing Sam Darnold in 2021.

Looking at games like last night, I start wondering if there is some form of point shaving going on.  Getting sacked 9 times in spite of having two top tier receivers and a good receiving tight end?  I can't name one player from the Rams defense.  No way are they that good!

 He cost himself millions of dollars in the last six hours spent on a football field--like in the 30-40 million range. 

My diagnosis is this: The DCs looked at Jets Panthers tape and realized that they could get into his head--.  Sam Darnold is the quintessential front runner--a fair weather friend--the loudest singer in the choir at weddings and the lip sync master at funerals.

I would like to add that there were several sacks where I saw 2 or, at times, 3 OL looking dazed and confused.  A few times he had 2 OL not touch a defensive player. 

I think Darnold just became a Colt or Brown.

They actually have a solid very young DL that’s improving every week since Verse/Fiske are rookies. The Rams drafting has been amazing the last few years, the type of results we only dream about. Unfortunately, that 2nd we picked up from the Rams that we thought early in the season would be similar to ours is not pick 25-32 and quite a bit worse than the pick Chicago owns.

Not to intervene--sometimes we can get pulled or pushed on here and it shifts from the Panthers to each other--but I respect both of your opinions--maybe some common ground, where you are 95% of the time?  I am out--just a thought.

I didn’t watch but as an Aaron Jones fantasy owner, the lack of dump offs was astounding. I’m not sure it’s just Darnold because Jones and Akers had 6 total targets and 3 of those were on the last two drives late in the 4th quarter. Seems like O’Connell is adverse to calling screen plays. I always thought that screens were meant to slow down the rush. If your RBs have 3 targets for less than 10 yards before the game is actually over, it seems like you are playing into the hands of the defense.

If you don’t normally run screens at all, probably harder for Darnold to become a dump off guy. Just my two cents since Darnold did have 5 full games with CMC (he was hurt in game of 2 others) and they connected for 35 receptions in those 5 games. He did only have DJ and Chosen to throw to the rest of the time but we certainly game planned to throw to CMC and the Vikings clearly weren’t targeting RBs until the end when it was already over.

I appreciate your offer of an olive branch and I respect your opinions as well. With him, though, he has to have the last word in every discussion and has to be the smartest person in the room. I’m closer to the 100th person to point it out than the first.

When he isn’t, he starts projecting so much he may as well be an IMAX theatre. I have no issue with dropping a subject, but the most condescending, thin-skinned hypocrite on here needs to get checked if he’s gonna go around calling others thin-skinned or hypocritical.

It stemmed from me finding some condescending, poor opinions he posted about Darnold (could do the same thing for Mayfield or Young with a five-second Google search) and he got really, really triggered about it, and that persists after several weeks.

No one else I spotlighted even cared.

No point shaving. Darnold held onto the ball way too long and he admitted it. Rams need some credit for playing as well as they did, though.

I think the Vikings just got dominated and Darnold wasn't or isn't good enough to climb out of the hole once the game starts getting out of hand...he perpetuates the panic. You could see it last night it seemed like the Vikings just wanted to get out of there in the 4th quarter. I hate hearing people just blast him though. 

 

I feel like the NFC is wide open. I'm hoping this weekends games are a lot more competitive than what we've seen. The college playoffs have been way more entertaining (and I'm not a big CFB fan)

My guess this is Sam Darnold's last game as a Viking. It will be interesting to see where he ends up next season.
