Warren Sapp defends Matt Moore

it might not be that big a deal though. just 'cause we see it on video doesn't mean defensive backs can see it when the offensive and defensive lines are obstructing it. i like how he holds the ball down like that instead of up, and how he keeps two hands on it. much less prone to fumbling.

Woodson is one arrogant bastard. Matt Moore played just ok? 8 TDs 1 INT, is just ok? Come on you can't get much better than that asshat. Someone just doesn't want to admit their wrong.

EXACTLY! I don't understand why nobody will give double M a chance. He already proved himself....was all that success just luck? HELL NO

what does he do with the ball? it's the same thing before each throw.

I may have not noticed the tell that you see, but there is something else that I've noticed after watching the vikings and giants game (yeah I still have them on DVR....it's a LONG offseason lol), but he almost always looks to the side that he's going to throw to at least 2-3 seconds before he makes the throw... He never comes back across the field to the other side once he finishes a dropback....he'll throw it in there regardless of the coverage....see the Smith catch on Leber in zone coverage...His eyes lock onto one side of the field after the snap EVERY time he makes a downfield throw....I dont think that I saw one deep route that he came back across the field to throw (like trying to look off the safety to help his receiver get open).

Oh I see it now.....he taps the ball right before he throws it....everytime. Can't believe that I missed that lol.

A bunch of QBs tend to pat the ball before every throw. Some of the greats like Peyton Manning however don't seem to have this problem.
yeah, every once in a while you will see some of the best ones tap the ball just before they throw it but it isn't very frequent.

moore does it all the time.

clausen doesn't seem to do it very often at all.

DBs and LBs are going to pick up on that and they probably already are but i could see them taking advantage of it more.

it could be corrected but if it isn't it could be a pretty big liability.

well for one the dbs shouldn't see it but rarely, itf a team is playing man then the ball should be thrown right as the receiver makes his cut giving the db a spilt second to make a play.

against a zone i can see how this would be a problem since the dbs are usually following the qb......but the oline and dline should block most of the qbs actions.

and can we plz stop knocking Matt Moore for silly shiz....like he played in games that didn't matter....i guarantee you any coach in the nfl ever caught one of there players admitting to playing half ass in a game he would bench his ass quick

plus every game matters,ne was on the verge of losing the divison, vikings homefield, giants still had a shot, the saints have hungry 2nd stringers trying to earn a job,the bucs are a young team trying to make a statement.

hell we were still in it until the saints got molly whooped

The point is that Romo, Warner, and Brady are the exception, not the standard. Matt Moore is a solid QB, and I've stated as such in other threads in the forum during the past couple of days. However, I'm personally tired of solid, "game-managing" QB's. That's what Moore is to me, a game manager, another Jake Delhomme (in his younger days). That's what turns me off, because we don't have the defense at the moment to play that style of offense anymore. We don't have the type of defense where you can just try to grind clock on O, turn it over to the D and win close games. We need dynamic players at ALL the skill positions, including QB. We need to score points, and a lot of them...that's how we will have to win games. To win Super Bowls now, you need a franchise QB. Ravens (Dilfer), Colts (Manning), Patriots (Brady), Giants (Manning), Steelers (Roethlisberger), Saints (Brees), Bucs (Johnson), and the Rams (Warner) were the Super Bowl Champions over the past decade....how many won with a game manager at QB? Only 2, and both had top 3 defenses behind em. Can you say that with all certainty that Moore will be a success? I can't say for certain that he will be a failure, but I just don't believe or buy into all the hype that he's getting from the fanbase. My fear is he does well next year, we commit big money to the guy, and he flops. I'd take the chance on Clausen before I'd go that route, cause at least if Clausen blew chunks, his salary wouldnt be high. But if Moore was to get a big contract and then stink, they wouldn't bench the guy...it would be the Jake situation all over again.

Are you fuging kidding?

...Unless you change it up and start tapping it to fake that your going to throw it.

I don't get how some of you are so high on Moore and are convinced he'll be fine, and can be a franchise QB...yet say Clausen will take over in a few years. If Moore is the real deal, then he's here for the long haul. If he's just filling in until Clausen is ready (if he is), then I can buy it...but I can't buy you thinking we'll have two franchise QBs on this roster. It happens so rarely. My brain is too tired to think, but the best example I can think of is Steve Young backing up Montana. Maybe Rodgers backing up Favre...but in both cases the starter was old. Matt is not old.

Thus the problem this will cause if both are excellent.

Brees/Rivers is the better example. Brees=Moore (in situation) Rivers=Clausen. I am afraid that we will let Moore walk next year and he goes and signs with someone and turns into a Franchise QB. I personally would have went Tate in the 2nd and give Moore a Vet backup.

Think about this, if Moore does struggle this year (which is why many like this pick as insurance both present and future) most likely Fox wont be here at season end. A new coach (please Gruden) will probably bring in a new O scheme that requires a different QB, or they just want there own guy. So all we did was waste a pick.

I have mixed feelings about the Clausen pick. But you can't deny his talent and upside nor his incredible value at 48 (but I could say the same about Tate). Fact is we needed a WR far more then QB and Tate was there mocking me.
